History came alive at Smt. Sunandabai Bandodkar High School when students transformed their campus into a tribute to the great Maratha warrior, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. What began as a Diwali break activity soon became an inspiring journey into India’s glorious past, as students constructed a grand fort reminiscent of the mighty Maratha strongholds that once defined Shivaji Maharaj’s legacy.

Under the guidance of Principal Jyoti Chipalkar and teacher Kaustubh Pednekar, the young learners meticulously designed, crafted, and built the fort — paying attention to every detail, from sturdy bastions to gateways that reflected historical architecture. The process allowed them to relive the bravery, strategic brilliance, and leadership that defined Shivaji Maharaj’s reign.

The project wasn’t just about art and craft; it was a living lesson in patriotism and teamwork. Through this creative exercise, students learned the importance of unity, resilience, and leadership — values deeply embedded in Shivaji Maharaj’s life and vision. The initiative encouraged them to look at history not as distant facts, but as a vibrant narrative that continues to inspire modern India.

At Smt. Sunandabai Bandodkar School, learning has taken root—literally! The school’s Nutrition Garden is an innovative initiative that connects children to nature, nutrition, and sustainability.

What began as a simple activity to promote healthy eating has blossomed into a vibrant outdoor classroom. Students actively plant and care for vegetables like cucumbers, turmeric, ladyfingers, and bananas, understanding where food comes from and why fresh, natural meals matter.

Aligned with the Government’s Poshan Maah initiative, the project emphasizes the importance of nutrition, health, and community well-being. Each gardening session teaches patience, teamwork, and responsibility, helping students discover that learning can be hands-on and joyful.

As harvest time arrives, excitement fills the air. Students proudly pick what they’ve grown and transform their produce into traditional Goan delicacies like Tavsholi (sweet made from cucumber), Patholi (sweet wrapped in turmeric leaves), and fresh salads. Each bite becomes a reminder that the “fruit of patience is sweet.”

The Nutrition Garden has grown beyond vegetables—it’s nurturing values, curiosity, and lifelong habits of mindful eating. With each seed planted, students are sowing lessons for a healthier, happier future. 🌿

Dr. Deviya Rane Emphasizes Accountability and Quality During Surprise School Inspection in Ghoteli

A school is more than just a building — it is a sacred space where the future of our society is nurtured. Poriem MLA Dr. Deviya Rane reinforced this belief during her surprise inspection of Government Primary School, Ghoteli No. 1 in Keri Panchayat. The inspection, unannounced, revealed that the infrastructure work at the school was not carried out to the expected standards.

Taking immediate action, Dr. Rane issued strict instructions to the contractor and the engineering team to rectify the deficiencies and ensure that the project is completed with the quality and speed that the children of the constituency deserve.

Dr. Rane expressed her deep concern that such projects must uphold the dignity, safety, and well-being of the children they serve. “A school is a temple of learning. Every child who walks into its gates deserves the assurance of quality, safety, and respect,” she stated.

She further reaffirmed her commitment to active oversight and transparency in public works, stating that she will personally inspect not only schools but also anganwadis and other public buildings across the constituency. Dr. Rane emphasized that projects where foundation stones have been laid will not be left unchecked — they will be followed through until their full and proper completion.

This proactive stance by Dr. Rane reflects her dedication to ensuring that government initiatives translate into real benefits on the ground, with accountability and integrity at the core of public service.

The 10th Annual Rafting Event organized by the Scouts & Guides unit of The Rosary High School, Cujira-Bambolim, was flagged off by the Hon’ble Panchayat Minister, Shri Mauvin Godinho, at the scenic Vaddem Lake.

The event brought together students, teachers, and community leaders in a celebration of adventure, teamwork, and youth empowerment. As rafts took to the water under a clear sky, the Minister lauded the school’s commitment to holistic education and outdoor leadership.

The event marks a decade of dedication to nurturing resilience, collaboration, and environmental appreciation among students.
