Panaji: Chief Minister Pramod Sawant chaired a panel discussion on International Wellness in Panaji, in the presence of yoga guru Ramdev, Acharya Balkrishna, and several eminent Ayurveda practitioners and wellness experts.


The discussion focused on the growing global relevance of India’s traditional systems of medicine and wellness, including Yoga, Ayurveda, Unani and Siddha. Speakers highlighted the importance of integrating these time-tested practices into modern lifestyles to promote holistic health and preventive care.

The panel discussion reflected the Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of taking Yoga and Ayurveda to every household, while encouraging wider awareness and adoption of India’s traditional knowledge systems across the world. Emphasis was laid on positioning India as a global hub for wellness and holistic healthcare.

It was also highlighted during the discussion that nearly 50 per cent of the population already benefits from Ayurveda in some form, underlining its deep-rooted presence and acceptance among people. Experts stressed the need for continued research, standardisation and global outreach to further strengthen confidence in traditional medicine systems.

The event reinforced Goa’s commitment to promoting wellness tourism and supporting initiatives that align with India’s broader vision of wellness-driven development.

Shatakautsav Mahotsav of Vitthal Rakhumai Temple Inaugurated in Vithalwadi as Temple Marks 100 Years

Mapusa/Vithalwadi: The Shatakautsav Mahotsav commemorating 100 years of the Vitthal Rakhumai Temple at Vithalwadi was inaugurated with religious fervour and community participation, marking the temple’s entry into its centenary year.


The inauguration was attended by Dy. Speaker and MLA of Mapusa Joshua De Souza, along with Tourism Minister and MLA of Porvorim Rohan Khaunte. The centenary celebrations highlight the temple’s enduring spiritual legacy and its deep-rooted connection with the local community.

The Shatakautsav Mahotsav will feature nearly 100 programmes, including 1,000 pujas, the traditional Palki procession, and a series of devotional and cultural activities aimed at celebrating the region’s rich spiritual heritage.

The celebrations will continue until February 1, 2026, reflecting a strong foundation of faith, tradition, and collective participation. The organising committee, comprising members from multiple generations, has played a key role in ensuring that the centenary celebrations represent both continuity and inclusiveness.

The event stands as a tribute to a century of devotion, community bonding, and the preservation of cultural and spiritual traditions associated with the Vitthal Rakhumai Temple.

Lokvishwas Pratishthan has been serving society for the past 44 years, working consistently to empower differently-abled children through education, skill development, care and social inclusion. Over the decades, the organisation has played a significant role in fostering confidence, dignity and self-reliance among thousands of children and their families.

Speaking on the occasion, Ritesh Ravi Naik praised the selfless efforts of Lokvishwas Pratishthan and its team, stating that grassroots organisations play a crucial role in building an inclusive and compassionate society. He emphasised that the welfare and empowerment of differently-abled children must remain a collective responsibility and assured continued support for initiatives that promote equal opportunities and social justice.

JCI Farmagudi Organises Blood Donation Camp at Govt. College of Khandola

Farmagudi, January 2026: JCI Farmagudi, in association with the Government College of Commerce, Arts and Science, Khandola, Sarthak Foundation Goa and the Rotary Club of Margao Midtown, successfully organised a Blood Donation Camp at the college premises on Thursday, January 22, 2026.



The camp was held from 9:30 am to 1:00 pm and witnessed voluntary participation from 40 students and professors, reflecting a strong spirit of social responsibility and community service. Of these, 27 units of blood were successfully collected, while a few volunteers were unable to donate due to low haemoglobin levels and nutritional factors.

The collected blood units will play a vital role in saving lives and supporting patients during medical emergencies, reinforcing the importance of regular blood donation.

The organisers expressed their sincere gratitude to all the donors, the medical team and the volunteers whose collective efforts ensured the smooth and successful conduct of the camp. JCI Farmagudi President Amin Hipargi and Secretary Dr. Susmi S. Kunju appreciated the overwhelming response and reiterated the organisation’s commitment to continued social welfare initiatives.

Goa is set to witness a unique blend of history and music this January as Candlelight by Live Your City illuminates the iconic Aguad Port & Jail Complex with its signature candlelit concerts. Known globally for reimagining live music through intimate performances set amid thousands of candles, Candlelight invites audiences to experience familiar melodies in evocative, heritage-rich locations.



On January 24, the series will feature two special performances, Candlelight: Queen vs. ABBA and Candlelight: Tribute to Coldplay. Set against the dramatic coastal backdrop of Aguad, the concerts promise an immersive experience that combines live piano music, open skies and the warm glow of candlelight, creating an atmosphere that feels both grand and deeply personal.

The evening will begin with Queen vs. ABBA at 6:30 pm, celebrating timeless anthems from two of the world’s most iconic bands. Pianist Karl Lutchmayer will reinterpret classic hits in a stripped-back, instrumental format that highlights melody and emotion. Later at 8:30 pm, Tribute to Coldplay will bring contemporary favourites to life through live piano arrangements, offering audiences a reflective and intimate way to connect with modern classics.

From legendary pop and rock anthems to contemporary music, Candlelight in Goa offers a distinctive cultural experience, with the historic venue and candlelit setting enhancing the ambience of each performance. The concerts are designed to last 60 minutes, allowing audiences to fully immerse themselves in the music and atmosphere.
