Inter-School Independence Day Quiz Promotes National Unity & Integrity in Goa


Bicholim, Goa, August 18, 2025: As part of the 79th Independence Day celebrations, Vedanta Sesa Goa-Iron Ore hosted the Inter-School Independence Day Quiz 2025 for high school students from Maem, Bicholim, Piligao, Mulgao, and Sirigao.

The competition saw participation from 8 enthusiastic teams, with Shri Shantadurga High School emerging as champions. Ideal High School secured second place, while Radhakrishna Vidyalaya High School finished third.

The prize distribution ceremony was graced by senior leadership from Vedanta IOG, including Dhirajkumar Jagdish (Dy CEO, IOG) and Santosh Mandrekar (Head-North & Central Cluster, IOG).

PM SHRI GHS Morpirla Students Celebrate Raksha Bandhan at Rashtrapati Bhavan


In a remarkable celebration of culture and unity, four students from PM SHRI Government High School Morpirla โ€” Daksh Velip, Priyanshu Velip, Ranjisha Gaonkar, and Ridhi Velip โ€” accompanied by National Awardee Headmistress Maria Murena Miranda, visited Rashtrapati Bhavan in New Delhi to celebrate Raksha Bandhan.

The highlight of the visit was the presentation of special handmade cards and rakhis to the Honโ€™ble President of India, Smt. Droupadi Murmu. The President graciously accepted the gifts and expressed her admiration for the studentsโ€™ colourful Goan costumes, which added a vibrant cultural touch to the occasion.

This unique opportunity allowed the students from the tribal village of Morpirla to immerse themselves in the traditions and grandeur of the nationโ€™s highest office. They also had the chance to visit Amrit Udyan, where they enjoyed the lush greenery and diverse flora, adding to the memorable experience.

Headmistress Miranda, who attended the At Home Reception hosted by the President on Independence Day last year, shared her joy:

Khandola | Team Allycaral : In a significant event marking the start of a new academic term, the Government College, Khandola installed its Student Council for the academic year 2025โ€“2026

The ceremony was graced by Dr. Ajay Gaude, Director of the Directorate of Sports and Youth Affairs, who served as the Chief Guest. Dr. Gaude administered the oath of office to the newly elected council leaders:

Govt College Khandola Students Experience Sustainable Farming Firsthand at Tatoโ€™s Kulaghar


July 31, 2025: As part of the TY VET paper on Environment and Sustainable Development, the Department of Political Science at Government College of Arts, Science & Commerce, Khandola organized an insightful and hands-on study visit to Tatoโ€™s Kulaghar, Chodan.

Led by Prof. Dr. Seema P. Salgaonkar (Vice Principal and HOD) and Mr. Akbar Gaded (Assistant Professor), the field visit involved 30 enthusiastic students eager to understand sustainability in action.

Experiencing Sustainability Beyond the Classroom

Students got directly involved in:

  • ๐ŸŒฑ Weeding and planting paddy saplings, learning the physical demands and environmental benefits of traditional farming.
  • ๐Ÿฒ Sampling local Goan staples like pej (rice gruel), tor (cooked pulses), and traditional chillies โ€” nourishing and culturally rich.
  • ๐Ÿ› Participating in a playful yet grounding mud bath near the sluice gate, a rural rite of connection with the land.

The immersive experience bridged textbook knowledge with lived practice, deepening studentsโ€™ appreciation of ecological balance, rural livelihoods, and local food systems.
