JCI Panaji Hosts ‘Love Beyond Romance’ Session Led by Zone Trainer Nikita Gupta

On 4 February 2026, JCI Panaji, in collaboration with the Counselling Cell of Purushottom Walawalkar Higher Secondary School, Mapusa, organised a thought-provoking youth engagement session titled “Love Beyond Romance.” The programme was led by Zone Trainer JC Nikita Gupta and aimed at guiding young minds through emotional awareness, self-reflection and essential life skills.


Moving away from stereotypical notions of romance, the session introduced students to a broader and more meaningful understanding of love. Through interactive activities and open dialogue, the speaker highlighted that love extends beyond personal relationships and encompasses respect for one’s country, community, teachers and peers.

The session focused strongly on universal values and unity. Students were encouraged to develop emotional management skills, practice good manners and etiquette, and cultivate integrity in daily life. The emphasis remained on equipping teenagers with life skills that promote empathy, togetherness and personal responsibility.

The impact of the session was clearly visible, with students actively participating and responding positively to the discussions. Faculty members expressed their appreciation to JCI Panaji, noting that the session presented a much-needed perspective on emotional development for today’s youth. Encouraged by the response, the school has requested more such initiatives to support holistic character-building among students.

The programme reinforced the idea that nurturing a deeper, value-based understanding of love prepares young individuals to lead lives rooted in empathy, respect and universal harmony.

JCI Panaji, in collaboration with the Counselling Cell of Purushottom Walawalkar Higher Secondary School, Mapusa, organised a powerful and thought-provoking session titled “Love Beyond Romance” on 4 February 2026. The programme was led by Zone Trainer JC Nikita Gupta and was specially designed to guide young minds through emotional awareness, values and life skills.


Moving beyond stereotypical notions of romance, the session encouraged students to explore the deeper meaning of love as an expansive emotion rooted in empathy, responsibility and unity. Through interactive activities and open discussions, students were introduced to the idea that love extends to one’s country, community, teachers and peers, shaping a balanced and compassionate outlook on life.

The core focus of the session was on universal values and unity, with emphasis on emotional management, manners and etiquette. The training aimed to equip students with essential life skills that help bridge personal gaps, promote integrity and foster a sense of togetherness rather than isolation.

The response from both students and faculty was overwhelmingly positive. Students actively participated and resonated deeply with the fresh perspective on emotions and relationships. Faculty members expressed appreciation to JCI Panaji, noting that the session offered a meaningful and timely message for today’s youth. Encouraged by its impact, the school has requested more such initiatives to support holistic character development among students.

The programme reaffirmed the importance of nurturing empathy, respect and emotional intelligence among young individuals, preparing them to lead lives guided by understanding and universal respect.

DMC College Hosts Workshop on Mushroom Cultivation as Agribusiness

The Entrepreneurship and Startup Development Cell of DMC College, in association with the Department of Commerce, conducted a workshop on “Mushroom Cultivation as an Agribusiness” on 5 February 2026, aimed at encouraging entrepreneurial skills and awareness of sustainable agricultural ventures among students.


The session was led by Dr. Ashish Prabhugaonkar, Assistant Professor from the Department of Botany, Dhempe College of Arts and Science, Miramar, Goa, who served as the resource person. He explained the different types of mushrooms suitable for cultivation and discussed their nutritional value, commercial viability and growing market demand.

A hands-on practical demonstration formed the highlight of the workshop, where students were guided through the complete process of mushroom cultivation, including substrate preparation, spawning techniques and ideal growth conditions. The interactive nature of the session helped participants understand how mushroom farming can be developed into a profitable agribusiness.

A total of 38 students from DMC College attended the workshop, which was appreciated for its practical orientation and relevance to entrepreneurship, self-employment and agribusiness opportunities.

Vedanta Sesa Goa Champions Girl Child Empowerment and Education Through Student Engagement Initiatives

Vedanta Sesa Goa, one of India’s most established mining companies with a seven-decade legacy in Goa, observed National Girl Child Day and the International Day of Education by conducting meaningful student-centric programmes at Shri Mahamaya High School, Maem. The initiative reflected the company’s continued focus on empowering girls and promoting holistic educational development among young learners.


As part of the engagement, students interacted with Ms. Simran Narvekar, a player from the Sesa Football Academy, who shared her personal journey in sports. Her story of perseverance and self-belief served as a source of motivation, especially for girl students, encouraging them to pursue their aspirations with confidence, resilience, and determination.

The session was followed by an interactive quiz competition, providing students with an opportunity to showcase their knowledge, critical thinking abilities, and enthusiasm for learning in a lively and engaging environment.

Speaking on the occasion, Navin Jaju, CEO of Vedanta Sesa Goa, said that the company remains committed to empowering the nation’s future through inclusive education, skills development, and equal opportunities. He highlighted initiatives such as Project Vriddhi, Vedanta Utkarsh Scholarships, the Sesa Technical School, and the Sesa Football Academy as key platforms enabling youth—especially young girls—to realise their potential and aspirations, while contributing to the vision of a developed India.

Suman Gaonkar, Principal of Shri Mahamaya High School, expressed her appreciation for the initiative, noting that the interaction with Ms. Narvekar was highly motivating for students, while the quiz encouraged active participation and critical thinking. She added that such engagements play a significant role in building confidence and supporting the overall growth of children.

In a parallel educational initiative, students and teachers from Holy Cross High School, Siolim–Bardez, visited the Sesa Technical School and the Sanquelim Reclaimed Mines. The exposure visit offered valuable insights into vocational and technical education pathways, along with sustainable mining and land reclamation practices, enriching the participants’ academic understanding.

Through continued engagement with schools and educational institutions, Vedanta Sesa Goa remains focused on fostering learning, inclusion, and youth empowerment. These initiatives underline the company’s commitment to creating enabling environments that encourage education, confidence, and positive social impact across communities.

Bicholim Free Legal Aid Cell Organises Successful Jan Seva Camp at Sal Village Panchayat

The Bicholim Free Legal Aid Cell successfully organised a one-day “Jan Seva Camp” at the Village Panchayat Hall, Sal, Goa, providing a range of essential public services to local residents. The initiative witnessed active participation from the community, with over 80 residents availing benefits during the camp.


The camp offered assistance for several key services, including Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY) registration, Aadhaar card correction, and ABHA card issuance. In addition, citizens received support for online residence certificates, divergence certificates, DDSSY card renewal, PAN card services, and drafting of affidavits, among others.

The programme was conducted under the guidance of Faculty In-charge, Assistant Professor Rhucha Garde, and coordinated efficiently by students-in-charge Miss Diya Deulkar and Miss Maithili Gawas. The camp also received support from Sarpanch Mrs. Neeta Raut, whose presence added to the smooth conduct of the event.

The Jan Seva Camp served as an effective platform to bring government schemes and legal assistance closer to the people, reaffirming the Free Legal Aid Cell’s commitment to community service and access to justice at the grassroots level.
