Written by Intern Rency Gomes ||Team Allycaral

Aldona MLA Carlos Alvares Ferreira marked his 31st wedding anniversary, sharing reflections on a journey that spans over three decades of companionship, family, and shared experiences across India and abroad.

Recalling the years since their wedding day, Ferreira reflected on the many milestones that shaped their journey together — from the early days of marriage to raising their two sons, Armando and Daniel, and building a life enriched by travel, faith, and family values. He described the bond as one that has grown stronger with time, likening it to wine that matures with age.

The occasion was also a moment of remembrance, as Ferreira acknowledged family members who are no longer present but remain close in spirit. He expressed gratitude for their blessings and prayers, which he said continue to guide the family.

Sharing words of appreciation, Ferreira thanked his wife, Natasha, for being a steadfast pillar of support through the years, and his sons for their constant encouragement. He also conveyed his appreciation to friends, well-wishers, and members of the community who have been part of the family’s journey and offered their prayers and good wishes on the occasion.

The milestone marked not just the closing of another chapter, but the beginning of a new one, as the family looks ahead to the years to come with faith and gratitude.

Happy International Day of Families! : “Where Love Begins: Celebrating the Strength of Families Everywhere”

Written by Intern Elsa De Souza, Team Allycaral

Regardless of where we are from or the ways we journey through life, there is one place that remains with us always family. That is where our first lessons are taught, where during mayhem, we find comfort, and where love is heard loudest when it’s whispered in the quietest time. Today, this International Day of Families – 15th May 2025, we take time to celebrate the unbreakable ties, the joyous laughter, and the silent sacrifices that make us the people we are today. Because family isn’t where life starts it’s where love never ends.

The United Nations General Assembly in 1993 declared the International Day of Families to emphasize the significance of families as the building blocks of society. The day is commemorated annually on 15th May and underscores the recognition of the role played by families in moulding individuals and societies by the international community.
The program was a part of the UN’s work towards social progress and development, particularly in relation to matters that influence the welfare of family’s health, education, gender equity, work-life balance, and children’s rights, among others.
Every year, the day is marked with a certain theme to highlight aspects of family life and problems confronted by families all over the globe, e.g., poverty, migration, safety online, or inclusive development.
As the world prepares for the Second World Summit for Social Development in November 2025, the International Day of Families (IDF) will spotlight the pivotal role of family-oriented policies in advancing sustainable development. Held under the theme “Family-Oriented Policies for Sustainable Development: Towards the Second World Summit for Social Development”, the event will highlight key insights from national and regional initiatives, emphasizing the role of families in achieving the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
As we mark the International Day of Families, we are reminded that the cornerstone of any healthy society is in the home. Large or small, traditional or adopted, each family has its own narrative one consisting of shared meals, middle-of-the-night conversations, quiet sacrifices, and unwavering support.
In celebrating families today, we celebrate the values that unite us all: love, respect, unity, and resilience. Let us take a moment to thank those who stand with us through every joy and every challenge and pledge to create a world where all families, in all their forms, feel supported, seen, and valued.
Because no matter where life leads us, it’s family that makes us who we are.

The Feast of the Holy Family: A Celebration of Love, Unity, and Sacrifice

December 29, 2024, marks the Feast of the Holy Family, a significant celebration in the Catholic Church. This feast day honors the Holy Family – Jesus, Mary, and Joseph – and their exemplary life of love, unity, and sacrifice.

The Significance of the Holy Family

The Holy Family is the epitome of family values, teaching us valuable lessons about love, obedience, and sacrifice. Jesus, the Son of God, was born into a humble family, and His parents, Mary and Joseph, played a pivotal role in His upbringing.

Mary, the Mother of God, is the perfect example of obedience and faith. Her willingness to accept God’s plan and bear Jesus, despite the challenges and uncertainties, is a testament to her unwavering faith.

Joseph, the foster father of Jesus, is a model of sacrifice and love. He selflessly accepted Mary as his wife and Jesus as his son, providing for their needs and protecting them from harm.

The Feast of the Holy Family: A Celebration for All Families

The Feast of the Holy Family is not just a celebration of the Holy Family; it’s also a celebration of all families around the world. On this day, families come together to reflect on their values, strengthen their bonds, and seek inspiration from the Holy Family.

In today’s world, families face numerous challenges, from busy schedules to conflicting values. The Feast of the Holy Family reminds us that, despite these challenges, families can thrive with love, unity, and sacrifice.

How to Celebrate the Feast of the Holy Family

Here are some ways to celebrate the Feast of the Holy Family:

    1. Attend Mass: Participate in the special Mass celebrations on December 29, 2024.
    2. Family Prayer: Gather your family for a special prayer session, reflecting on the values of the Holy Family.
    3. Family Activities: Engage in activities that promote bonding, such as game nights, family outings, or volunteer work.
    4. Reflection: Take time to reflect on your family values and how you can incorporate the lessons of the Holy Family into your daily life.

The Feast of the Holy Family is a joyous celebration that reminds us of the importance of love, unity, and sacrifice in our families. As we honor the Holy Family, let us strive to build stronger, more loving families, inspired by their exemplary life.
