In a sweeping crackdown on online platforms, the Nepal government has banned 26 major social media services including Facebook, X (formerly Twitter), YouTube, and Instagram for failing to register with national authorities. Critics say the move is aimed at silencing dissent and marks a dangerous erosion of digital freedom in the country.
Instagram has launched new features — including Reposts, Map, and a Friends tab in Reels — to help users connect more meaningfully with friends. Meta’s August 6, 2025 update also includes AI tools, video editing upgrades, and messaging improvements.
