Trying out something new is always challenging! But Trying out a 21 days of challenge could be so interesting and fun! Well, now that is something I never knew!

The Journey of trying out 21 days of Self Care Challenge was easy but at the same time it made me realise about several things! Starting from the most important of all is life’s true happiness lies in the simplest pleasures!

Recently, after interacting with several people, I learnt that most of them complained of not having enough time to take on these type of challenges or do something that they like. Most of us lack time management and that’s how we say that “I don’t get time only to do the things I like.” Well, if you don’t take time off for yourself now, then later on creeping about the fact that you didn’t do anything in your life worth exploring more about true self, would be completely unacceptable.

So pick yourself up and plan to take this 21 days of self care challenge, maybe this could be your first step towards making time for yourself. Social Media DeTox


Can you do it?

Hello My Allys,

Hope you all are doing well! It is Tuesday again and here I am. Well, you all must be wondering how can I make a statement like that, a person who is every week attached to social media always bring to you something different and hutke is asking you to have a social media detox.

When I first pitched this idea to my friends just to get a reaction from them. I realised smartphones have become an inseparable element in most of our lives. And to top the list is Social Media, that feature is used most of the time in any smartphone. Be it to watch videos sent on whatsapp, or just to scroll through Facebook or Twitter or Instagram. It has indeed become a part of our lives, the most addictive thing ever! Even if we aren’t texting anyone we are just scrolling through feed on Instagram or Facebook or Twitter. And when I say We, well I mean it as Me too. Yes, several times I too do the same.

Sometimes we think or say to ourselves that we will scroll through social media for just 5 minutes but end up sitting almost half an hour, only to realize you are already running late from to school, college or work.

Now, having a social media Detox isn’t difficult. You need to do it in the right way. We cannot avoid social media platforms completely as to how many disadvantages it has, it has several advantages too. It connects us to our friends sitting in one country to the other! While it also helps us to explore the world, while we stay connected to family. But as it is always said too much of anything can be dangerous.

Try to avoid using your phone atleast 10-15 minutes before you go to bed. You can either pick a book and read or else brush and floss too are best options at night, just before you hit the bed.

Secondly, avoid your phone early morning especially when you on the bed. Wake up, get to the nature admire the nature the leaves, flowers feel blessed and grateful for the countless moments the universe has given you.

Third, try to Unfollow people who aren’t your real friends, unsubscribe yourself from emails and most importantly delete apps you don’t use. Several times, it is because your phone blinked or the notification triggered is the reason that you went to your phone to check it, resulting into hours of scrolling through some other applications.

Try to spend more time in real with people, rather than on social media looking at someone else’s virtual world. Explore a place near by, visit/revisit an old friend, someone who you didn’t meet but there isn’t a single day passed without that person crossing your mind. Send flowers to that person! Who doesn’t love flowers? Send flowers and make them feel special. Gestures like these in the long run will make you happy! It is only when you are happy, you can make someone else happy! Its like a chain, when you make someone else happy, he/she reciprocates the same to someone else and then it goes so on! Ting!

Whatever you do, wherever you are stay happy! That’s all what I pray for you all! And of course I pray for one more thing that after reading this article, you will like, comment and share your views about social detox whether or not, this a need of the hour. Have a wonderful evening!

Come, Make a Wish at The Fountainhas Wishing Well


Hello Beautiful People!

Hope you all doing fine, this week I didn’t have a place in mind to feature, but as it is said by a wise man that if you conspire something with all your heart, you receive it. To all my beautiful people reading this post, your messages through emails, direct messages on twitter motivates me to bring before you every week a new feature. As I have introduced self care too on my blog in my recent post. Have you read it? Okay! Maybe read this one and then you can head to there.

So, as I told you that I was going through places to feature! It all happened of sudden, when my college mate surprised me by turning up at my office all of sudden and then so decided to catch up to take some time of and sit back and relax. We thought about some good places to visit but we didnt want to go that far. So, as my office is near this beautiful place of “Fountainhas” (Which I will feature soon) We thought of going back to those places in Fountainhas which we visited when we were interning together at a newspaper firm. It was during that particular time that I learnt a lot about the Panjim City and the commuting modes and most importantly being independent. As back then, we didn’t have a bike or vehicle and neither of us knew riding too. So that was an important journey shaping me and to get my things done with least of luxuries. I still remember it was during the internship, I had to do a story on Fountainhas – a beautiful place situated in the city of Panjim. It still has a great Portuguese influence which can be felt the moment you step inside this mesmerizing place. The colorful building, the ancestral houses or be it with the people! Several people in the place still speak Portuguese which is very much interesting! (Voces Fala O Portuguese?) Yes. Do you speak Portuguese? This was suppose to be a quick visit as we both were working on that day!

The first thought which came to our mind was let’s explore the ‘Wishing Well’ Believe it or not, Fountainhas has an age old wishing well, which is believed that anything that you wish by flipping a coin into the well, your wish comes true. We don’t have any clue, how far the same is true but the ambience makes you feel like you entered a fairy tale. Interesting as it sounds, the well was quite well maintained as compared to the last time we visited it. Okay! I interned about 5 years back. The place has transformed and beautification work is still in progress in this particular place. Shortly, will be featuring them all. By the way all of us are aware that we are in theย  season of IPL – The Indian Premier League, runs and wickets are always ‘umeed we dugana’ ( more than you expect.) So near the wishing well, if you move towards your right, you see a beautiful staircase painted in the colours of the rainbow. A beautiful site to watch and admire. And most importantly, it gives you a pictureย perfect stop. HOW TO GET THERE?

I know, coming to the most important question is – How to Get there? Well, the location is simple, head towards the St. Sebastian Church, in Fountainhas and then take the right till you find the the red bricked wishing well with roosters mounted on the top of the either sides of the well.

TIP OF THE DAY:

  • Try to visit the place on foot rather than bikes.
  • The best time to visit this place is during the early evenings to enjoy the local people playing the guitar and violin at their windows. Thus, setting the mood for your pictures.
  • If you plan to visit this place in the afternoons, don’t forget to carry a hat along with you and water and the most important apply sunscreen to protect you from the sun!

How to Invest more on Yourself?

After receiving amazing response for the previousย #BeingAllycaralSaturdaypollย ๐Ÿ‘’ย here I am with my first post on Self Care post. Interesting and exciting as it could be, here I am experimenting with my first Self Care #BeingAllycaralTuesdaytipsย ๐Ÿ‘’

And this week, the best topic to start with is “How best One can Invest more in Self”. People often have this misconceptions that investing on yourself means spending a lot of money. The fact is, this may not be the case. It is basically a feeling one needs from self in order to feel fulfilled. This may sound a lot deeper, and you might find yourself lost or confused. Hey! hang on, I just got started. The Golden Rules to Invest Gracefully on Yourself include:

  • Be Happy –ย As simple as it may sound, in today’s world of uncertainty we all go through questioning relationships, jobs wondering are we really happy doing what we are at the moment? We definitely may have a smile on our face but truly are we satisfied what we are doing? And the best person to figure this out is none other than ourselves. Remember in order to be happy, you need to feel it from within. Often, people get affected by the surrounding, situations that bring you down. But the best way to deal with all these things are to learn to put your happiness first, and always remember never to depend on someone else for your happiness. Because no matter what, whether with or without life still moves on. If you catch the train, you win, if you don’t well don’t worry stay there another one is definitely on it’s way. Remember, the only person who have the power to make yourself happy is your self. If you have to truly enjoy yourself. Some days, do what you always wanted to do, take a day off or maybe a week, go watch a movie, play a video game that you like, treat yourself at the spa, enjoy a late laid back afternoon at a beach side, spend some time with old friends reminiscing some good old memories. Because hey! you are still very young, you don’t have to figure out what your entire life would look like.
  • Assess Your Goals and Targets of Life –ย ย This is something which everyone needs to do in order to make sure in this journey of life you are making the most out of the opportunities that you are given. Assessing and evaluating your career graph in simple words mean comparing yourself for a period. Like for example, if there is a difference between You about a Year back and Today in terms of the things that you haveย  learnt, the growth in terms of the way you handle situations and most importantly how rationally you can deal with the balance of professional and personal life.ย Some days definitely there will be a times, when you don’t have toย figure out what you will be doing in the next 5 years. On those days all you have to do is just go with the flow and most importantly get through the day. But make you sure to bounce back and work hard to achieve what you planned for yourself in the coming years. (Always write Your Goals down, Look at it every morning, Trust me this works! Try Yourself to see results.)
  • Work towards achieving Healthy Physical and Mental Self –ย Now Working towards achieving a whole healthy self is one of the things we often hear! Now, in order to achieve a Healthy Self – First we need to get out of the bed and exercise. The best way to get our physical self fit is exercising, now this could be at home or at gym. I usually prefer exercising at home because you get your own space and at the same time you alone can push your self harder than anyone else can. So Exercising Definitely helps a lot as most of us are working tirelessly sitting in front of a PC or a Mac Book or a laptop exhausting mentally ourselves from morning to evening, which means less body activity. So Exercising pumps the blood and this is one of the aspect of Being Healthy, Now the second aspect includes How to keep your Mental Self Healthy. One of the best ways to do so is Meditation. Yes! an age old traditional method, which instantly rejuvenates yourself. Usually advisable for 45ย  minutes every single day, this will bring much needed stability for your mind. And another important therapy is music! Keep a separate music time for yourself. Listen to tracks that uplift your soul. Listen Happy Tracks. The best time to exercise or meditate is early mornings before breakfast or post office after going home. And as World Health Day is Coming Up on 7th April 2018. Indeed a perfect month to kick start your workout routine.
  • Develop Your Skills –ย This is the best way to learn something new, be it a new language, or be it new dance form or simply be it learning to play a guitar. The best way to get started is read books, research online, watch videos, read matter online. This slowly increasing your knowledge day by day helping you to develop new additionally skills. Learning is not just restricted to these, several times we learn and develop skills by meeting friends, colleagues and acquaintances. It is always said, every person that you meet in your life teaches you something or the other. Sometimes good to best while sometimes bad to worst. What is important is you take everything and absorb the positivism in everything.

There you are simple as it sounds. Remember the more you invest on your self with the pointers mentioned above the more richer you will get. And it is an every day process. And in this world full of uncertainties it is advisable to always take time off for the most important person in your life which is yourself. Make that person the happiest for that person deserves a lot. And I would say, You alone know what all things that person has gone through, so hey you alone can be a superman/ superwomen to save yourself.
