Goan Student and Educator Selected for PM’s ‘Pariksha Pe Charcha’


Nandini Velip, a student from PM SHRI Government High School, Morpirla, in Quepem taluka, Goa, has been selected to participate in Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ‘Pariksha Pe Charcha’ in New Delhi. She will be accompanied by her Headmistress, Maria Murena Miranda, a National Awardee.

This prestigious event provides a platform for students, teachers, and parents to discuss exam-related stress and strategies for success. Nandini’s selection is a testament to her exceptional academic record and her enthusiasm for extracurricular activities.

In her video submission for ‘Pariksha Pe Charcha’, Nandini spoke about the importance of exams in helping students discover their capabilities and develop a positive mindset. PM Shri Government High School Morpirla Celebrates Annual Day with Great Fervor

Goa University Women’s Football Team Secures Spot in Khelo India University Games 2025


In a remarkable display of skill and determination, the Goa University Women’s Football Team has qualified for the prestigious Khelo India University Games 2025. The team’s impressive performance at the All India Inter-University Football Women’s Championship 2024-25, held at GNA University, Phagwara, Punjab, from January 11-16, 2025, secured their spot among the top eight teams.

The team’s campaign began with a closely contested match against Chaudhary Bansi Lal University, Bhiwani, Haryana, where they narrowly lost 1-2. Pushpa Parab scored the lone goal for Goa University in this game. However, the team bounced back strongly, defeating Vels University, Chennai 1-0 in the second league match, with a brilliant goal by Karen Estrocio.

Goa University continued their winning momentum, securing an emphatic 5-1 victory against the University of Burdwan, Purba Bardhaman, West Bengal in the third league match, and qualified for the knockout stage. Goals were scored by Karen Estrocio (1), Pushpa Parab (2), Sushmita Jadhav (1), and Flani Costa (1).

In the quarterfinals, Goa University put up a valiant effort but narrowly lost 2-1 to Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar. Despite the defeat, the team’s overall performance ensured a top-eight finish in the championship.

This achievement marks a significant milestone for the team, as they now look forward to representing Goa University at the Khelo India University Games 2025. The team’s success is a testament to their hard work, dedication, and teamwork.

Goa, January 15, 2025: RBL Bank, one of Indiaโ€™s leading private sector banks, through its CSR initiative โ€“ UMEED, has distributed a total of 4,835 bicycles since 2023. Today, the Bank reinforced its dedication to supporting girl child education by distributing 200 bicycles to underprivileged girls in Goa.

The initiative addresses one of the significant challenges of school dropouts among the girl students, the long distance between their homes and educational institutions.

The bicycle donation drive was held at Ravindra Bhavan, Sanquelim Desai Nagar, Harvale, Goa in the presence of Dr. Pramod Sawant, Hon’ble Chief Minister, Government of Goa, Shri Shailesh Zingde – Director Of Education, Shri Vijay B. Saxena – Director (DPSE)/ Jt. CEO, Goa CSR Authority, and senior dignitaries from RBL Bank.

The UMEED initiative aims to offer a practical and sustainable solution by providing underprivileged girls with access to reliable transportation. These bicycles will empower them to commute to school efficiently while promoting an energy-conscious and environmentally friendly approach. This year, RBL Bank aims to distribute over 1,800 bicycles and school kits across India, reinforcing its commitment to supporting education and empowering young minds.
