Kerala Beat Goa by 102 Runs in Senior Women’s One Day Trophy

Kerala registered an emphatic 102-run victory over Goa in the Senior Women’s One Day Trophy Elite Cricket Tournament at the JSCA International Stadium Complex on Wednesday.

Opting to bat first, Kerala posted a competitive total of 282 in 47.5 overs. Akshaya A anchored the innings with a composed 64 off 78 balls, striking nine fours. Asha S played an aggressive knock of 71 from 56 deliveries, hitting eight fours and a six to accelerate the scoring. Vasu Drishya (38) and Najla CMC (27) chipped in with valuable contributions as Kerala recovered from a brief middle-order wobble to post a formidable total.

For Goa, Tejashwini Duragad delivered a standout performance with the ball, claiming 5 wickets for 48 runs in nine overs. Vidhi Bhandare picked up two wickets, while Pooja Kalel, Poorva Bhaidkar and Shreya Parab claimed one each.

Chasing 283 for victory, Goa got off to an excellent start through Purvaja Verlekar (59) and Harshita Yadav (66), who stitched together a solid 113-run opening partnership. Harshita struck nine fours and a six and appeared set for a big score before her dismissal triggered a collapse.

The middle order failed to capitalise, with wickets falling at regular intervals. Tanaya Naik remained unbeaten on 22 but lacked support as Goa were bowled out for 180 in 45.3 overs.

Kerala’s bowling attack was led by Shani T, who claimed 4 wickets for 28 runs in 10 overs, dismantling the Goa batting line-up. Asha S complemented her batting effort with figures of 3 for 19 in 10 overs, while Vinaya Surendran and Darshana Mohanan picked up one wicket each.

With this defeat, Goa concluded their campaign sixth in Group C, recording two wins and five losses from seven matches. The loss to Tripura earlier in the tournament proved costly in their overall standings.

Lalit Yadav’s Fighting 85 Not Enough as Hyderabad Crush Goa by 7 Wickets

Written by Tanisha Cardozo || Team Allycaral Sports Desk

Goa suffered their second defeat in the Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 Cricket Tournament as Hyderabad outplayed them with a commanding seven-wicket victory at Eden Gardens in Kolkata. After losing the toss, Goa were put in to bat and struggled early when openers Arjun Tendulkar and Ishan Gadekar fell cheaply.

Abhinav Tejarana brought some momentum with a fluent 21 off 14 balls, followed by a steady 23 from Deepraj Gaonkar. The innings revived when Lalit Yadav once again stepped up under pressure, producing a stunning unbeaten 85 off 48 balls that featured 10 fours and 3 sixes. He lifted Goa from a shaky 67 for 4 to a competitive total of 160 with the help of Darshan Misal, who contributed 18 in their 93-run partnership. Hyderabad’s bowling was led by Tanay Thyagarajan, who returned impressive figures of 2 for 20.

Hyderabad’s chase began with clear intent as they attacked from the start and never allowed Goa to settle. Captain Pragyan Reddy spearheaded the pursuit with a match-winning unbeaten 67 off just 34 balls, an innings studded with powerful strokes including 4 fours and 5 sixes. Aman Rao supported him well with a solid 40 as Hyderabad raced to 166 for 3 in only 14 overs. Goa bowlers Deepraj Gaonkar, Darshan Misal and Vikas Singh picked up a wicket each but were unable to stem the flow of runs.

With this loss, Goa remain on 4 points in the Elite B group. The team will look to bounce back in their next fixture against Madhya Pradesh on December 2 as they continue their campaign in the tournament.

Yashasvi Jaiswal Reaffirms Loyalty to Mumbai, Withdraws NOC to Join Goa

In a significant development on the domestic cricket circuit, India Test opener Yashasvi Jaiswal has formally withdrawn his request for a No Objection Certificate (NOC) to move from Mumbai to Goa, opting instead to remain with his home team ahead of the 2025-26 domestic season.

The 23-year-old had sparked speculation in April when he approached the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) seeking permission to represent Goa as a professional player, a move that reportedly included potential captaincy discussions.

However, in May, Jaiswal wrote to the MCA requesting that the NOC process be halted, citing personal and family-related reasons for the change of heart.

The matter was formally resolved on Monday, when the MCA Apex Council ratified the withdrawal of the NOC request.

“The Apex Council has approved the withdrawal of the No Objection Certificate (NOC) earlier requested by Yashasvi Jaiswal. He will remain available for Mumbai in all domestic competitions,” the MCA confirmed in a statement.

MCA president Ajinkya Naik welcomed the decision, stating:

“Yashasvi has always been a proud product of Mumbai cricket. We have accepted his request and he will be part of our plans for the upcoming season.”

In his letter to the MCA in May, Jaiswal clarified that the initial intent to shift base was linked to personal circumstances which have since changed.

“I had some family plans in shifting to Goa, which for now have been curtailed. I have not submitted the NOC to the BCCI or the Goa Cricket Association,” he wrote.

The confirmation puts an end to weeks of speculation about the young left-hander’s domestic future and reaffirms his commitment to Mumbai — the team where he developed and rose to international prominence.

In addition to retaining Jaiswal, the MCA also announced the return of the iconic Dr HD Kanga League, which will commence from July 20 in its traditional monsoon format — a beloved part of Mumbai’s cricketing heritage.

Earlier this month, the MCA did grant a transfer to another India international, Prithvi Shaw, who has been cleared to represent a different state side in the upcoming season.

Jaiswal’s decision to stay adds a strong boost to Mumbai’s domestic lineup as they prepare for a competitive season ahead. With rising stars and experienced hands, Mumbai remains one of India’s most formidable cricketing states.
