South African cricket legend Jonty Rhodes has raised concerns over Delhi’s worsening air pollution, describing it as “hard to digest.” Taking to X (formerly Twitter), Rhodes shared that while passing through Delhi en route via Ranchi, he was grateful to live in a small fishing village in South Goa, contrasting its clean air with Delhi’s toxic smog. Using the hashtags #AQI and #whats2Bdone, Rhodes shared a photo of his children playing football on a Goan beach, adding that if they were in Delhi, they would likely be playing indoors. His post comes as Delhi faces its worst air quality levels this year.
Delhi’s air quality worsened to a “very poor” category with an AQI of 311, as hospitals report a 60% spike in respiratory and eye-related illnesses. Stubble burning and rising pollution have intensified political tensions, with protests planned at India Gate on November 9.
