Karisma Kapoor’s Children Move Delhi HC Over Late Father Sunjay Kapur’s Property

New Delhi, Sep 9: Bollywood actor Karisma Kapoor’s children have approached the Delhi High Court seeking their rightful share in the estate of their late father, Sunjay Kapur. The petition, filed on Tuesday, challenges the validity of Kapur’s will.

According to the plaint, neither Sunjay Kapur ever disclosed the existence of a will during his lifetime, nor did his widow Priya Kapur or any other family member mention it. The children argue that the will was brought up only after his passing, raising doubts about its authenticity.

The matter is expected to come up for hearing on September 10.

Sunjay Kapur, a Delhi-based businessman and the former husband of Karisma Kapoor, passed away leaving behind significant assets. His marriage to Karisma Kapoor, one of Bollywood’s leading actresses of the 1990s and early 2000s, ended in divorce, and he later married Priya Sachdev (Kapur).

This legal battle is likely to attract widespread attention, not only because of the high-profile personalities involved but also due to its implications for inheritance and property laws in India. The court proceedings will determine whether Sunjay Kapur’s children with Karisma Kapoor have a rightful claim in the estate, or whether the contested will stands.

The case underscores the growing number of high-profile family property disputes being litigated in Indian courts, especially when wills or inheritance documents are questioned for their authenticity.
