Panaji / Mumbai — In a major update for fans of Kalki 2898 AD, production house Vyjayanthi Movies has officially confirmed that Deepika Padukone will not star in the sequel of the big-budget sci-fi epic.

The actress, who played a pivotal role alongside Prabhas, Amitabh Bachchan, and Disha Patani in the first installment, was expected to reprise her character in the continuation. However, the makers have now announced her exit, citing “lack of commitment” as a factor.

This isn’t the first time Deepika has walked away from a major project recently. A few months ago, she also exited Prabhas’ upcoming film Spirit, directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga. Reports suggested disagreements over her working conditions, including demands for an 8-hour workday, a share of the film’s profits, and avoiding dialogue delivery in Telugu.
