Vedant, Gopal, and Sagar Clinch Ultimate Trio Trophy


Margao: The trio of Vedant Naik, Gopal Gawas, and Sagar Shet emerged victorious in the Ultimate Trio Trophy cricket tournament organized by the Margao Cricket Club in memory of Rajesh Ghodge. The thrilling final saw them defeat the team comprising Kapil Borker, Anup Kudchadkar, and Vinay Sambari at the MCC Ground in Margao.

In the semi-finals, Vedant Naikโ€™s team showcased their dominance by securing a win against Siddhesh Alvencarโ€™s team, while Kapil Borkerโ€™s side outplayed Sahish Mahambreyโ€™s team to book their place in the final. The tournament featured 16 competitive teams, each consisting of three players, adding a unique twist to the traditional cricket format.

Kapil Borker earned the title of Best Batsman with an impressive score of 71 runs in the tournament. Demonstrating his exceptional bowling skills, Gopal Gawas was named Best Bowler after taking six wickets. The Best Fielders award was shared by the talented trio of Shivam Singh, Sai Naik, and Dwij Palyekar.

Margao:CD Margao Mega Strikers extended their unbeaten run in the Alcon GSB Unity Cup T20 Cricket Tournament with a commanding 109-run victory over Canacona Mathagram United in a thrilling floodlit encounter on Thursday. The tournament is organized by the Goa GSB Sports & Charitable Trust in association with the Goa Saraswat Samaj at the MCC Ground, Margao.

Opting to bowl first after winning the toss, Canacona Mathagram United struggled to contain the aggressive batting of the Mega Strikers, who put up a formidable total of 196/7 in 20 overs. Yash Prabhugaonkar led the charge with a brisk 36 off 19 balls, supported by crucial contributions from Amod Borkar (32), Sidhit Raiturkar (30), and Aditya Angle (21)*.

Chasing a stiff target, Canacona Mathagram United faltered early, collapsing to 34/7 before a lone effort from Nikit Naik Dalal (38 runs) helped them reach 87 all out in 17.3 overs. CD Margao Mega Strikers continued their dominant run, securing their fourth consecutive victory, while SinQ Rangers UC notched their second win in the tournament.

In the first match of the day, CD Margao Mega Strikers remained unbeaten, edging past Madgaon Royals by 18 runs. Batting first, Mega Strikers posted 143/8 in their 20 overs, with Aditya Angle (36), Sidhit Raiturkar (25), and Siddhesh Prabhu Alvencar (23) leading the charge. In response, Madgaon Royals fought hard but were bowled out for 125 in 19.2 overs, with Kaushal Hattangadi (34) and Kartik Hattangadi (31) being the top scorers. Siddhesh Prabhu Alvencar, who contributed with both bat and ball (23 runs & 2/23), was named Man of the Match.

The second match saw SinQ Rangers UC register a comfortable 7-wicket victory over Rising Stars of Antruz with 25 balls to spare.
