Crickokers 50 Plus Cricket Tournament Kicks Off in Style


Margao: The second edition of the Crickokers 50 Plus Cricket Bash was officially inaugurated on Friday at the MCC Ground in Margao. The opening ceremony featured Bonny Pereira, owner of Martin’s Corner, as the Chief Guest, while Dr. Satish Kudchadkar graced the occasion as the Guest of Honour. Other dignitaries present on the dais included Yogesh Naik, President of Margao Cricket Club; MCC member and councillor Sagun Dada Naik; along with Prayan Dhamaskar and Amar Devidas.

Raghuvir Kunkolienkar, Head of Crickokers Hospitality, welcomed the gathering, and Anup Borkar delivered the vote of thanks.

Four matches were played on the opening day of the tournament. At the Chicalim Ground, Central Strikers Indore defeated Palakkad Veterans Kerala by 9 wickets. At MCC Margao, Rising Stars Veterans New Delhi edged past Omtex Western Lion Mumbai by 2 wickets in the morning match. In the afternoon session at the same venue, Spring Falcons – Rest of India beat Western United by 47 runs. At Arlem Ground, Crickokers Hospitality Goa clinched a 3-wicket win over Dharwad Cricket Academy.

The tournament promises to deliver thrilling encounters in the coming days, celebrating the passion and spirit of cricket among players aged 50 and above.

PGML Kings Triumph in Thrilling Ramakant Verlekar Champions Trophy Final


Margao: PGML Kings emerged victorious in a thrilling contest, defeating MCL Superstars by 3 wickets with 5 balls to spare to claim the Ramakant Verlekar Champions Trophy 2025. The match, held under floodlights at Dr. Rajendra Prasad Stadium, Margao, was organized by the Sunita Verlekar Foundation. This was the fifth edition of the prestigious tournament. The PGML Kings team featured top players from the Panaji Gymkhana Members League, while MCL Superstars comprised leading players from the Margao Cricket Club’s Members Cricket League.
After winning the toss, MCL Superstars elected to bat first, scoring 147/9 in 20 overs. Siddhesh Prabhu Alvencar top-scored with an unbeaten 40 runs, while captain Aditya Angle (25) and Amod Borkar (23) made valuable contributions. For PGML Kings, Ajinkya Kudtarkar, Ramnath Gaonkar, and Saif Ali Karajgi took two wickets each, while Heramb Shankar Parab, Om Fadte, and Sazu Naik claimed one wicket apiece.

Chasing the target, PGML Kings secured victory in 19.1 overs, losing 7 wickets. At one stage, they were comfortably placed at 116/3, with Vedant Naik scoring 40 runs off 28 balls. However, a double strike by Siddharth Ghanekar, dismissing Robin D’Souza (8) and Saif (43 off 34 balls, 2 fours, 2 sixes) in a single over, made the contest exciting. Siddhesh Alvencar further dented PGML Kings by dismissing captain Muktiar Kadri (7) and Ramnath Gaonkar (0). Under pressure, Harshad Gadekar played a crucial unbeaten knock of 22 runs, ensuring victory for his team.
The prize distribution ceremony was graced by former Indian cricketer and ex-coach of India’s T20 World Cup-winning team, Lalchand Rajput, currently the head coach of UAE’s national team. Other dignitaries included MCC President Yogesh Naik, Kapil Angle, and Sunita Verlekar Foundation Trustee Gautam Verlekar, who handed out the awards.

Margao: The Alcon GSB Unity Cup T20 Cricket Tournament, organized by Goa GSB Sports & Charitable Trust in association with Goa Saraswat Samaj, saw high-intensity clashes over the weekend at MCC Ground, Margao.

CD Margao Mega Strikers booked their spot in the grand finale after a dramatic Super Over victory against Priority Titans in Qualifier 1 on Saturday. Meanwhile, Madgaon Royals secured a dominant 8-wicket win over Canacona Mathagram United in the Eliminator, keeping their title hopes alive.

With this result, Madgaon Royals will now face Priority Titans in Eliminator 2 on March 2. The winner of this crucial clash will battle CD Margao Mega Strikers under floodlights in the grand finale on March 8.

Qualifier 1: Super Over Thriller

Batting first, CD Margao Mega Strikers posted 129 all out in 19.5 overs, with Aditya Prabhugaonkar (32)* and Animesh Prabhugaonkar (23) making key contributions. Priority Titans matched the total, scoring 129/9 in 20 overs, leading to a Super Over to decide the winner.

Batting first, Laziz CQS posted an imposing total of 209 runs in 19.5 overs, led by contributions from Vidheya Kossambe (36), Varun Kudchadkar (35), Nikhil Virginkar (35), and Deval Karmali (33). MARGAO: Priority Titans continued their dominant run in the Alcon GSB Unity Cup T20 Cricket Tournament, organized by Goa GSB Sports & Charitable Trust in collaboration with Goa Saraswat Samaj, securing their fifth victory by defeating Madgaon Royals by four wickets under the lights on Thursday.

Winning the toss, Priority Titans opted to bowl first. Despite resistance from Damodar Pai Patnekar (36) and Kartik Hattangadi (32 off 17 balls), Madgaon Royals struggled to build momentum and were bowled out for 132 runs in 19.5 overs. Titans’ bowlers Smitesh Divekar (2/7), Manish Kakode (2/12), and Vikrant Prabhu (2/22) ensured a disciplined attack.
