St. Cajetan Church โ€“ The Real Pearl of Goa

Hello My Allys,

Hope you all are doing well… The previous month has been one of a hectic kind. I was on my toes continuously doing several things and Thank God! Everything went perfect. And here I am not that I am complaining but yes all but grateful for the work I did and opportunities I received. Indeed, so here I am back this Friday to feature my Favourite Travel Place. Despite everything here I am! I know delayed but hey! It’s always better to respond then to avoid the response at all. ( My friends would know this way better than anyone)

Oops. I know I speak a lot but hey! I am here so here’s my favourite travel feature for the week.

Very well aptly selected title for this beauty. Away from the regular traffic and the noisy environment, is the beautiful place of Old Goa. A place, where we find a lot of historical monuments, be it The Basilica of Bom Jesus or The Archaeological Museum. In the shadow of the other churches, the St. Cajetan Church is situated in Old Goa. A whole lot of people say โ€œPeace of mind is attained in silenceโ€ Truly said, when one visits this particular place, one just gets carried away, with serenity and the beautiful infrastructure of this place. Just like I did, when I dropped in this place, not expecting what I would discover, the more I read, the more I fell in love with this place for the facts are outstanding.

A lil walk towards the history

St. Cajetan Church was completed way back in 1661 by the Italian friars of the order of Theatines. This church was built in lines of the Basilica of St. Peterโ€™s in Rome. Hence, this church has a quiet different and appealing foreign touch to it. And it stands out among all the other churches in Old Goa.

How did it Get it’s name?

The church has been dedicated to Our Lady of Divine Providence, itโ€™s name however finds itโ€™s origin after the founder of Theatines, (St. Cajetan). One of the unique feature about the church is that, this is the only surviving domed church in Goa. The exterior of the church has a Corinthian style of architecture while the interiors are a blend of Mosaic โ€“ Corinthian architecture. It has a spectacular rectangular tower on the either sides, atop the faรงade to serve as belfry the niches below have statues of the apostles.

Another striking feature is the stunning altars in Golden and is decorated with lovely carvings in the Baroque style. The church has altogether three altars, on the either sides of the main altars. Towards the left, thereโ€™s an altar dedicated to the Holy Family, Our Lady of Piety and St. Clare, while towards the right, thereโ€™s an altar dedicated to St. John, St. Cajetan and St. Agnes. The Altar dedicated to St. Cajetan is the largest in the church. A wooden platform emerges from one of the docks and is beautifully adorned and decorated.

Did You Know?

Surprisingly, beneath the main altar, thereโ€™s a well, which may have belonged to an earlier Hindu structure. The water, in the well reflects light. Some say itโ€™s the reflection of light from the dome, which is exactly parallel to the well. The presence of well in the church signifies that the church was constructed on a site where initially there was a Hindu temple.

The Hindu temple must have been destroyed during the time of invasion, while several others believe that the well was deliberately built in order to provide stability to the structure. St Cajetan Church has failed to gain the status of a full-fledged church, and thus, the church conducts mass only once a year. However, mass on special request are also entertained.

The architectural style of the church is mesmerising, this helped it gain immense popularity world-wide. It is generally visited regularlyย by several tourists, almost every year. And thus, it is truly called the real pearl of Goa.

How to Get There?

The road is simple. And when you have Google What’s the fear. Here are the map location.

Photos Will be up Shortly.

Till then, you can share your photos on the comment section below or simple share it on your social networking using #TravelwithAllycaral or #BeingAllycaral. I would love to see all those pictures coming up! Thank You. And have a wonderful weekend!

4 Steps to have Summer Ready Skin

Hello Allys,

Hope you all are keeping well this Summer. The temperatures in Goa has already started shooting up and considering the fact that we are on the 1st day of the May month. All I can say, May and Summer both have decided to come hand in hand to say “Hello” to us!

Considering the rising temperature in the state, all you need to do is take very good care of yourself. And this week, I have decided to give you’ll quick tips about how to keep your skin care routine right specially during the summers.

So, Let’s begin :

1. Use a Sunscreen Lotion – I know this tip everyone knows but this is the most important weapon against the Sun’s Harsh rays. And this is something, several people avoid. During the Summers, the UV rays are much higher and so using Sunscreen is a must. Sun Protection Factor (SPF) of about 30 is advisable for Indian Summers. So choose your sunscreen wisely. One more important thing to be noted is that several people apply sunscreen and instantly get in contact with the sun. Well, this shouldn’t be done, you should apply Sunscreen about 20 – 30 minutes before stepping outside. So that your sunscreen blends with your skin. Once you apply the sunscreen the protection remains for 4-5 hours, after which one needs to re apply the sunscreen. Also in case you are having water activities on your list, use a waterproof sunscreen for protection of your skin.

2. Follow Your Daily Routine Diligently – Every Morning begin the day by cleaning your face using A Face Wash, in case you get a lot of Acne Problem use Himalayas Neem Face Wash as that product is best for acne pimples and provide instant results. Following which use a Good Moisturizer with SPF – that will moisturise your skin all day. And Every Night, no matter how tired you are make sure you take off all your make up of your face and then only hit the bed. There are several make up removers in the market and mostly it is advised try to use only the same brand as the make up items that you use. Example, suppose you use Lakme Foundation then use Lakme Absolute Bi Phased Make Up Remover as that works well with your skin. And before going to bed make sure, you wash your Face with a Face Wash.

3. You are what you eat –ย Summer is the time you need to stay hydrated and for that drinking water like lots and lots of water is a must. Try to avoid fast food, fatty and oily food as that results in acne outburst. Also, during summer try and have fresh juices, fruits vegetables well that will keep you hydrated. Simultaneously try to include Vitamin C in your diet as that will keep your skin blemish free.

4. Apply Fruit Face Pack –ย Use a fruit pack on your face atleast weekly once. Just how eating is improves your health, applying fruit face pack rejuvenates your face. And now, thanks to companies face pack are readily available at stores. Choose one that contains more of milk as the moisturization clears excessive oil production and greasiness on your skin.

Hopefully these will be useful for your summers! If you have any more tips, ideas suggest them in comments below! Have a Fruitful Summer!

Top 7 Home Remedies To Permanently Remove Dark Circles Under Eyes

Hello My Ally,

Hope you all are doing fine. Today’s Tuesday Tip is little different then the rest for several reasons! Recently, I was interacting, with a couple of my friends and all what I noticed was most of them have dark circles. After interacting with them, I got to learn lack of proper sleep, stress, skin irritation, exposure to the sun seems to be major reasons for the same. So thinking about this, I thought the need of the hour at the moment is to write something that will solve this problem. Are you too facing a similar problem? Do you too have dark circles under your eyes.?

Well, don’t worry like it is often said with every problem there is a solution. And Hey! When I am here, what’s the fear? And I completely believe that home-made and natural remedies are the best to solve any problem.

So to get rid from the dark circles under your eyes, Here are the Top 7 tips to cure Dark Circles under Eyes

1. Milk

This ingredient is one of the most commonly found items at home. Be it for tea or coffee or just may be for chocolate drinks like Bournvita, Horlicks and so on. Milk is treated almost like a necessity at home and has multiple uses. Well, coming to my topic for the day, this item can also be used for permanently curing of your dark circles. For the remedy, all you have to do is take bowl of cold milk and cotton (make it in the shape of a ball). Dip the cotton ball in the bowl of milk and place the same on your eyes, covering the affected area completely for about 15 minutes after which the same can be washed with regular water. The same exercise has to be done for every day for almost two weeks to receive results. The idea of using the milk is, Milk is rich inย lactic acid which works towards making the skin –ย  smooth, thick and firm, diminishing wrinkles and fine line.

2. Tomato

Another commonly found item in your kitchen – Tomato. Yes Tomato is useful because it contains lycopene, a phytochemical which protects the skin from any kind of damage. All you need to get started is a teaspoon of Tomato Juice and Lemon Juice. Mix the two in a container and apply the same on the affected area and rinse with cold water after keeping the same for about 10 minutes. This should be done atleast twice a day for approximately for two to three weeks.ย If you have a sensitive skin, use rose water with the mixture before applying to the affected area under your eyes.

3. Cucumber

The most commonly used products to relax. All you need a fresh cucumber to be cut in thick round slices and place the same for refridgerating for about 30 minutes. Then take two slices and place the same on the affected area covering the same properly. And Sit back and relax for next 10 minutes and wash your eyes with cold water. Do the same for two times in a day for roughly a week and see the difference yourself.

4. Coconut Oil

The next remedy is using virgin coconut oil, Pat the oil on the skin under your eyes and massage the same gently in clock and anti- clockwise motions a few times and leave the same on for a night. Repeat the same exercise every night before the bed. The best part about using this oil is that it nourishes and moisturises your skin’s health, just like it would do to your hair, this indeed reduces dark circles gradually.

5. Turmericย

Turmeric as it is known to be used in face packs and creams for their skin brightening properties. In this remedy take 1/4 Turmeric teaspoon and mix the same with 1 almond oil. Massage the same under affected area and leave the same for 20 minutes and wash the same either with water or wipe it off with aย  soft tissueย  for best results use it thrice a week.

6. Honey

The Perfect Skin Diet is provided by Honey. All you have to do is apply a thin layer of organic honey under the affected area and leave the same for 15 -20 minutes and the same hsa to be repeated once a day, almost every day.

7. Rose Water

All You need is Rose Water, 2 Cotton Balls. Take the same cotton balls and soak the same in the rose water and place them under your eyes and leave the same on for 15 minutes and Wash with cold water. Do the same daily for four weeks for best results.

Happy Holidays!๐Ÿ–

Hello my Lovelies! Hope you all are doing well… #BeingAllycaral is back this Tuesday with #BeingAllycaralTuesdayTips. Well, summer is almost here and with this scorching heat, the unseasonable spell of monsoon is the only source of relief for us. Most of us would prefer to stay in doors to avoid this heat, while the others would get to destination like the beach getaways.

Well, keeping all of this in mind here are a few tips how one can have a memorable trip. So dher kis baat ki, (what’s the delay for?) let’s get started!

1. Use Public Transportation – Whenever you plan your holiday to a new place or a public destination always try to use the public transportation or the public mode of commuting in this area. This helps a lot especially to put yourself in to the shoes of the locals in that area.

2. Maintain a Travel Diary – Yes! A Diary that documents every moment of your trip. You don’t have to write down everyday or every moment but hey try to note down important stuff like about the facts about the place you are visiting or for that matter about the restaurants that you visit. Always make sure to try food in a restaurant that is suggested by a local from that place. They can be your best guide.

3. Learn the Language – Everyone should try this one! It is lot more fun than you think, especially when you interact with the person who already is familiar with the language. The amount of happiness you feel that you accomplished something different and Hatke is something which is priceless.

4. Explore the Place on your own – This could be a challenging task but hey! You should give a try to such things, you never know what you might have in store for yourself. I always believe the experiences that you encounter in your day to day life or for that matter the circumstances or situations that you come across, everything happens for a reason. And when such a thing happens you either win gracefully or you learn tactically. So go ahead, give it a try! If you are scared, you should first experiment this in your own neighborhood, try it out in your own city itself and see the difference. Your confidence levels up. Then slowly try a new state and then a whole different country. Another important thing, while exploring do not forget to buy yourself a momento of the place you visited. It could be a simple souvenir that you could keep along. Buying such things not only adds to your showcase but also every time you see this place, it brings back the memories of that particular day!

5. Document the moment – Record every moment on your trip but at the same time enjoy the moment! Once someone told me, “Leave the phone aside, not everything can be captured through the phone. Sometimes it’s best to see through your own eyes!” Well true, in every possible way! But clicking pictures too keep the memories intact. So now what I do is, when I visit a new place, first I admire the place through the naked eye and then click pictures. Because in case memory gets weak then phones help them to remember those moments once again!

Certainly, live every moment, capture memories good and bad because good makes you happy while bad teaches you to appreciate all the good memories. So yes! Life is too short to hold a grudge against eachother. Meet people, friends, acquaintances share ideas, appreciate one another for their good deeds at work, help one another and uplift to glory.

And Hey! You yes you reading my article. Thank you for taking time out and reading it. Means a alot… Have a fantastic week ahead.
