Abbé Faria Statue, Panjim

Hello Allys,

Welcome back to another Being Allycaral Friday Feature. Yes! It is my birthday month, as you must have learned in my previous post, I am all set to welcome my favorite week with this blog post. And What better way then writing it with my new extended blog family. This week, I thought of writing about another beauty of Panjim City, which I had only mentioned about it in my previous post of the Adil Shah Palace located in Panjim (https://allycaralgoa.wordpress.com/2018/01/18/destination-india-goa-adil-shah-palace-panjim/).
Yes, The state of Goa is known for several things but among these the capital is known for one more of a historical statue which is present in the heart of the capital city, Panjim. There might be several possibilities that you must have crossed this statue almost every single day. Must have seen it too, but because of all the hustle bustle of your day to day live, you must have surely neglected it. Well, that’s completely normal, things like these happens a couple of times. But as it is always said, it is better to take time out and visit the place than hearing about it for several times, and so I decided to visit this place just to see this statue.
The view at Night
For those who don’t have any clue where this statue is located. The place to get to the statue is very simple. If you are heading towards the Panjim City, Once you reach the Old Secretariat Building or also known as the Summer Palace of Adil Shah at Panjim keep heading straight if you are heading towards the Panjim City, the statue is  just after the Palace just before the

The Statue is towards your left hand side as you enter the Panjim City after the Post Office Stop

Well to give you a little information about this beautiful structure situated in the center of the Panjim City: This statue is of a prominent hypnotist and Luso Goan Catholic Monk, Mr. Abbé Faria. He was one of the pioneers of scientific study of hypnotism. Mr. Faria has deep roots in the state as he was born in Candolim, Bardez – Goa. This statue was a tribute for his work, it’s made up of bronze and depicts Mr. Faria in action of hypnotizing a woman. The same is presented just after the Old Secretariat building. There was several speculations about the sculptor who sculpted this structure one of which who’s names we get to know is of Mr. Ramchandra Pandurang Kamat, and the same was sculpted, in the year 1945.

So, the next time you are in the city, do not forget to visit this statue And yes very important, don’t forget to share your photos on instagram, facebook and twitter using the hashtag – #TravelwithAllycaral Looking Forward to see your wonderful pictures!

BE CAREFUL:
As the statue is centrally situated be careful while you stop for a photograph in this place. It is a place where heavy traffic passes so it is busy throughout the day.

TIP OF THE DAY:
Best time to click photo with the statue is during the afternoons, especially during lunch breaks as the inflow of traffic is quite less at that time.

Checklist For Home Before You Travel

Hello Allys,

We are here on a Tuesday, and I am all set to give you tips that will help you plan your travel wisely. This week, I thought of giving tips about what things you need to keep in mind before you leave your home for a vacation or a trip.

Very simple as it sounds but definitely it is these simple things that usually slips out of our heads. But don’t worry, I have penned down a quick checklist about these things you need to keep in mind – a checklist for home before you travel.

To get started with first things first:

  1. Dispose the garbage from the bins.

Yes this is one of the most common things which are usually skipped, in the excitement of planning and packing for the trip. So it is of utmost important to dispose the garbage from your house. Several times what happens is, you have a wonderful vacation and when you return and open your main door, you get a stench of some bad odor. The same is of the garbage in your house which remained indoor because all the doors and windows were locked. (The feeling and the smell is seriously bleh…)  So do keep this thing in your mind.

  1. Finish Food Items

Yes, Food items need to be finished especially like vegetables, fruits to avoid the rotting of the same which indeed would add stench which in case you didn’t dispose the trash from house would.

  1. Pay Due Bills

Make sure you paid all your due bills. As I am sure, none of us would like it, when we return home from a vacation only to find there is no electricity nor water.

  1. Make arrangement of pets/plants

We love our pets and plants and it is very difficult to part away from them. But if we cannot take our pets on a vacation we need to make provision to see to that in our absence they are not hungry or in bad condition. So either you can ask your friend to take care of them or your neighbor by giving them all the required material like food items, keys of the place the pet would be in so that they too are happy while you vacay. Same thing with the plants, ask your friends or neighbor to water the plants or else in case you don’t have anyone around you can keep the plants in your bathroom and leave slightly the tap on and arrange the plants in such a way that they get water though it may be little by little they atleast will get something other than just being dry and gradually dying.

  1. Close/Lock Doors in Your Absence

It is essential to lock down doors and windows securely in your absence. As you wouldn’t want to have an unexpected guest over when you may be having a wonderful vacation elsewhere.

  1. Unplug electronic Items

Unplug your computer system, fridge; AC plugs from the sockets, as you never know what might happen, considering fluctuations in electric currents.

  1. Notify Familia and Friends

Most Important notify your close friends and family about the trip where you will be going and for how long.

I hope the above article was useful. If you have any suggestions, Likes, Comments, feel free to share the same on the Page and do refer the page to your friends and relatives too – https://allycaralgoa.wordpress.com/

Until the next time!

Where is the largest Gothic Cathedral in the world?

Duomo, Milan Cathedral

Hello my wonderful Allys,

Welcome to another Being Allycaral Friday feature post. And here I am all geared up to bring before you this week’s special. Well, a couple of days back I had a random thought of conducting #BeingAllycaralSaturdaypoll. And since then, Every Saturdays, all I do is ask one question to which I tend to get know your preferences, likes and dislikes. Thus, when I was going through the same, I thought of why not linking my Saturday Poll Results to A Friday Feature. And Because of that here I am with the results of my previous poll in which most of you preferred Milan over California.

So here it is presenting to you the Global Fashion Capital of the World, which is the house to the largest Gothic Cathedral, Milan. A beautiful city in Italy and the second most popular one after Rome. The same is a growing hub for elegance and sophistication. The structures in this place have an impressive skill with an artistic touch with a future model making it distinctive from the rest.

A closer view of the Statues on the Spires

One of the top places to visit in Milan is Duomo. Yes, this is situated in the heart of Milan one of the most beautiful cathedrals which perfectly manifests the creativity and aspiration of the City.

As mentioned earlier too it is the largest Gothic Cathedral in the world with a vision in pink cadoglia marble. It’s pearly white facade with 135 spires and statues on the spires makes it look even more beautiful. The most beautiful feature of this Cathedral is that it has over 3400 statues on the external spires adding the icing to the cake of this extravagant Gothic Cathedral.

The work of the same began in the year 1386 by Mr. Giangaleazzo Visconti who’s original design was almost unfeasible at that time. The same took over 600 years to complete this gigantic structure. After looking at the initial design, several people were not keen to even give the structure a try.  The slow construction was another reason to doubt whether the same would be a success or no. But in the 19th century much of the church ornaments were brought giving it a Neo – Gothic look. Further, enhancing the beauty with final touches in 1960s.

As beautiful is the exterior of this church,  the interior too is extravagant. It has the largest stained glass windows in Christendom while in the crypt saintly Carlo Borromeo is interred in a rock-crystal casket. The church is open for visitors from 8am to 7pm and the roof terraces of the structure is open from morning 9am – 7pm. The same can be visited internally true city guided tours in small private groups only.

Well, Don’t forget to like, comment and share this post, also if you have clicked any pictures in this beautiful place share it on your social networking using the hashtag, #TravelBeingAllycaral

Tips of the day

In order to visit the place, try to be at the church entrance by 7:30am, because the place is visited by several people every single day. And there are huge queue which stand almost till afternoon to get into the church, so if you want to get into the church make sure you stick to the schedule and by 8am to visit the same.
