🏙️ Karnataka to Build South Asia’s Tallest Skydeck in Bengaluru’s Kempegowda Layout

Bengaluru, June 2025 — In a move set to redefine the city’s skyline and urban experience, the Karnataka government has announced plans to construct South Asia’s tallest skydeck in Kempegowda Layout, Bengaluru. This iconic structure aims to become a landmark of modern infrastructure, tourism, and civic pride for the state and the country.

The proposed skydeck, envisioned as a soaring tower with an observation platform at the top, will offer panoramic 360-degree views of the Bengaluru metropolitan region—making it a must-visit destination for tourists, residents, and photography enthusiasts alike.

🌇 What Is the Skydeck Project?

The skydeck will be part of the state’s broader vision to develop Kempegowda Layout, a fast-growing residential and commercial hub, into a world-class urban zone. Designed to rival global observation towers like the Burj Khalifa Skydeck (Dubai) and Edge NYC (New York), the Karnataka skydeck will:

  • Stand at an estimated height exceeding 250 meters, making it the tallest in South Asia
  • Feature a glass-floored observation deck, immersive LED experiences, and open-air viewing galleries
  • Include restaurants, lounges, and event spaces at the top levels
  • Be accessible via high-speed elevators and built with green, sustainable construction practices

🏗️ Vision for Urban Tourism and Innovation

Officials from the Karnataka Urban Development Department and Bangalore Development Authority (BDA) have stated that the skydeck project is part of a larger strategy to:

  • Boost urban tourism in Bengaluru
  • Attract private investments and international visitors
  • Showcase the state’s architectural and technological capabilities
  • Create employment opportunities during and after construction

Once completed, the structure is expected to draw millions of tourists annually, placing Bengaluru firmly on the map as a global city with modern, sustainable infrastructure.

🌿 Designed for the Future

In line with Bengaluru’s growing emphasis on sustainable development, the skydeck will include:

  • Rainwater harvesting systems
  • Solar energy integration
  • Eco-friendly building materials
  • Accessibility features for differently-abled visitors

Its location in Kempegowda Layout also ensures ease of access from the upcoming metro lines and new expressways, making it a key urban node in the city’s westward expansion.

🗓️ Timeline and Development Partners

The project is currently in the advanced planning stage, with tenders to be floated for design and construction by late 2025. Completion is expected by 2028, subject to environmental and urban clearances.

The government is also exploring public-private partnership (PPP) models to fund and operate the structure, ensuring global standards in execution and management.

📸 A New Icon on the Horizon

With this announcement, Karnataka is not just adding a new architectural marvel to its skyline—it is also signaling its ambition to blend innovation, tourism, and urban development in visionary ways.
