Find the 5 essentials in your backpack, when you plan a trip!

Hello my Allys,

Welcome back to the Blog, and I am here again with quick tips that will surely save your day. Well, as we have the Indiaโ€™s republic day holiday around the corner also that being on a weekend, I hope youโ€™ll have planned your vacation!!!

Whatโ€ฆ? No, not yet? Donโ€™t worry, Being Allycaral is off to your rescue. The First thing that you can do is – Start small. Yes, considering the holiday of republic day in India โ€“ plan a sightseeing trip in the place that you stay. (If you donโ€™t stay in India, plan this trip on an off day.)

Yup! A sightseeing trip. Sounds like a back to school/ college days? Well, noโ€ฆ It is not gonna be that at all, Trust me. To be frank, I am very much sure that no matter how much we roam in other countries we havenโ€™t explored our place to the core. So this holiday do that.

And to ensure you are Sightseeing trip ready!

Pack a backpack. Considering the fact that a backpack can carry many required things, it is always useful and a must on sightseeing travel. Top Five essentials you nee to carry in your backpacks.

  1. Carry a Water Bottle & Snack โ€“ when you go on a sightseeing trip always ensure to carry a Water Bottle (depending upon duration of the sightseeing, take the bottles โ€“ Most preferably 2 Water Bottles a must). Second most important thing is snacks, try to carry something light especially when you are going on foot for the trip. Snacks could include biscuits, sandwiches. Several times you donโ€™t have any clue whether there is any shop to collect a water bottle or snacks so it is always better to carry your own. If you get something on the venue well and good.
  2. Sunscreens โ€“ If you are planning to go on a trip during the summers, always remember to carry sunscreen and apply the same to your body to avoid sun tanning or sun burns.
  3. Wallet with cash โ€“ When you go on sightseeing trips, always remember to carry your wallet with cash, most important is cash because yet there are several places where shops donโ€™t have swiping machines to swipe your ATM cards. Also, you might not have any clue about the ATMs in the area. One thing you could do is check on Google Maps before you head out for the trip. But my suggestion is always take cash for trips like these.
  4. Camera โ€“ the most important thing atleast for me as I like to capture pictures of every place that I visit so yea, camera is a must. Incase you donโ€™t have one; no worries you can buy a selfie stick if you are going on a solo trip. This way you can get yourself too in the picture along with the scenic beauty.
  5. Band aid – Always carry a band aid to be any wound / shoe bite ready. Sightseeing in rocky or hilly areas means you will be alot more prone to any cuts or falls. So don’t let anything stop you from enjoying the place. Carry a band aid and apply the same.

Tip of the Day

  • If you plan a trip to like this on a sunny day, always wear bright colors like mustard yellow, orange, red they make your pictures look stand out.
  • Always carry a hat and oversized shades, they add on to your look.

Well, Iโ€™m sure you will soon plan your trip after reading this. If you do, donโ€™t forget to share with me your travel pictures using hashtag #TravelBeingAllycaral

Have a pleasant weekend ahead and yes donโ€™t forget to like, comment and share.

Truly only Yours Being Allycaral.

DESTINATION INDIA, GOA : ADIL SHAH PALACE, PANJIM

Yes! A Palace, Goa has the honour to house a palace in the capital city which is passed by several people every single day, but is overlooked every time. The Palace which I am referring to is one of the oldest Palace which can be dated back to the time of Portuguese Invasion in the state of Goa. This beautiful palace belonged to Muslim ruler of Bijapur, Yusuf Adil Shah (1450 – 1511)

The palace is strategically located to provide a beautiful riverfront view of the beuatiful Mandovi river. The Palace is commonly referred to as Idalcao Palace. It was also referred to as Adil Shah’s Summer Palace cum fortress.

Goa has a varied and a distinctive history with this beautiful palace, it was both well maintained and well armed during the reign with over 55 cannons and saltwater moat. However, when the Portuguese invaded Goa under the cable leaadership of Afonso de Albuquerque in 1510, the Sultan of Bijapurย had to give up.The Palace got the name of Idalcao Palace during post Portuguese invasion. It was a Portuguese version of the name “Adil Shah” Thus it was called Idalcao’s Palace. Following which this became the temporary residence of Viceroys of Goa.

The Viceroys who came to Panjim resided in the Idalcao Palace, and then moved for their ceremonial which were held in Old Goa. Same before leaving on a sea voy age, they would come to stay at the Idalcao Palace and from there on head on a sea voyage. The same continued to be used in this manner till 1918.

Post the Liberation of Goa from the Portuguese Rule in the year 1961, the Palace was used as the Secretariat, of the Goa State Legislative Assembly. Soon, the new secretariat was built at the Porvorim. Following which this Palace was converted into the office of administration of the Government Body.

The interiors of the palace is not open to general public, tourist or visitors. But the Exterior beauty is just so mind blogging. The typical colonial design and architectural style has been developed and enhanced with the passing years. Also the main enterance which was earlier facing the front of the Mandovi river was shifted towards the backside of the building of which the main entrance had a crest of the viceroy which was replaced by post liberation to Ashoka Chakra which is the Indian Emblem.

Very few people, get an opportunity to visit this Palace and one of which was me, The beauty of the exteriors is that it is simple and gives you a feel of an old Portuguese Mansion, the highlight of which is the big chandelier in the main hall.

DID YOU KNOW:
The Palace is significantly palaced in between two statues of great stature, towards the left is the Statue of Dayanad Bandodkar, the first Chief Minister of Goa while towards the right is the statue of theย Abbรฉ Faria., the great hypnotist.,

TIP OF THE DAY:

If you plan to visit the palace especially the interiors then plan your visit during the festivals like Serendipity, along with the art appreciation, you will also get to enjoy the view of the river front sipping a hot coffee from your the top veranda of the Palace
