Hello My Beautiful Allys!
How are you doing this weekend? As promised I am back with another #BeingAllycaralFridayFeature . Today, lets visit the most beautiful structure at Lisbon, Portugal – The Belรฉm Tower. Yes the Belรฉm Tower or the Torrรฉ de Belรฉm as it is referred to, is one of the most visited places in the beautiful city of Lisbon, Portugal. The Portuguese Word Belรฉm is derived word from an English word called Bethlehem. This landmark was constructed in the year 1515, during Manuel I of Portugalโs rule.
If one takes a closer look at the tower, it is but evident that the same was built as a defensive system to guard the entrance of the city and to protect the access to the Tagus estuary which could be attacked by John ย II of Portugal. ย Today the tower is used as a symbol to incorporate and display to the world the maritime elements and symbols of discoveries done by prominent voyagers like Vasco de Gama and Pedro Cabral.
The tower was erected by the architect Francisco de Arruda on a small island on the right side of the river of Tagus surrounded by water on three sides. Built with the Manueline style, it includes many stonework motifs of the Discoveries, sculptures depicting historical figures. It has a roofed balcony on three sides which can be seen from the riverbank. Each balcony has the Cross of the Knights of Christ while below the altar is the Our lady of Good Fortune โ a Gothic statue of Nossa Senhora do Bom Sucesso. It is also believed that the statue of Our Lady of Safe Homecomingโs statue was a symbol of protection for sailors on their voyages.
Belรฉm Tower is a world Heritage site declared by UNESCO and very precisely it summarised the entire well-being of this tower as “It is a reminder of the great maritime discoveries that laid the foundations of the modern world.”
FACTS TO KNOW:
The tower was erected on a small island on the riverbank of Tagus surrounded by water on three sides but however due to the shift in the river bank location, today the tower is present on the mainland.
Another interesting fact is that the architecture has a rhinoceros head facing the land below the west tower. It is said that this is the first rhino in Europe given to Manuel I as a present from India
BE CAREFUL:
The place is crowded so carefull about your belongings, especially handbags and passports.

The Statue is towards your left hand side as you enter the Panjim City after the Post Office Stop
Well to give you a little information about this beautiful structure situated in the center of the Panjim City: This statue is of a prominent hypnotist and Luso Goan Catholic Monk, Mr. Abbรฉ Faria. He was one of the pioneers of scientific study of hypnotism. Mr. Faria has deep roots in the state as he was born in Candolim, Bardez – Goa. This statue was a tribute for his work, it’s made up of bronze and depicts Mr. Faria in action of hypnotizing a woman. The same is presented just after the Old Secretariat building. There was several speculations about the sculptor who sculpted this structure one of which who’s names we get to know is of Mr. Ramchandra Pandurang Kamat, and the same was sculpted, in the year 1945.
BE CAREFUL:
As the statue is centrally situated be careful while you stop for a photograph in this place. It is a place where heavy traffic passes so it is busy throughout the day.
TIP OF THE DAY:
Best time to click photo with the statue is during the afternoons, especially during lunch breaks as the inflow of traffic is quite less at that time.
#BEINGALLYCARAL AT Abbรฉ Faria Statue, Panjim

The capital of Goa is indeed a beautiful place. A home to some stunning structures like you must have read in my previous articles where we visited the Adil Shah Palace, Panjim church all housed in the capital of the state of Goa. There is certainly no doubt that Panjim – the capital is visited by several people every single day. However, like always said and gone very few people take time out and notice the beauty of this place.
Ofcourse, we all know that we have aย very busy life, where we work so much so to ensure a better future. But in order to ensure a better future we often forget to take time out and live the moment we are in. And as a prominent person once said, Work Well but at the same time take time off for the people and things that matter because afterwards all that you will have is these memories rather than those projects and deadlines to meet. There is no doubt, working too is important but taking breaks are equally very very important.
Well todayโs feature is a place, which very few people are aware of! It is the placeย which is situated near the SAG Ground. A very common question I received, through my previous blog post and so here I am introducing a segment of how to get there.
How to get there?
The location is simple, even if you plan to go via a bus, you will get there. Incaseย you plan to go by bus, take a bus heading from Panjim Bus Stand towards the Miramar Beach, here tell the conductor to drop you to the “marriots” stop.ย Once he drops you to that point, there is a road which is bang opposite to the point he dropped you. (To be more specific, the marriots stop means he will drop you right infront of Times of India Goa Office, Bang opposite Times of India Office is the road. Enter that road and walk till the point where the road ends. (If you have a bike, you can take that along. There is a parking area once the road ends) Once you reach that point, left side you will see the campal indoor stadium while right hand side, is a place under construction, well that is our destination. The same is still under construction in the sense the light connection yet to be installed so the same area is prohibited for visitors during late evenings. However, during the day time this place gives you some really beautiful pictures. Well, and for us that is all that matters!!!
The peacefulness and serenity of the place recharges your soul instantly! During the afternoons you get sunkissed, as you walk or run on the footpath which gives you a phenomenal view of the beautiful Mandovi River holding the boats, barges floating in it’s arms. Adding to this mesmerizing view is the Reis Magos Fort, the light house and the outer coastal line of the Verem Betim making it a picture perfect frame.

This place is nice, peaceful and pleasant. A place that as we were discussing can revive energy, an as it is in Panjim the same can be visited in between your busy day. And a good thing is that, there is by default two policemen in civilian clothes patrolling the area for any kind of misconduct.
As we were enjoying the view with fresh vegetables detoxing ourself, in our first visit itself, we fell in love with this place! Time just flew, it was almost 3 hours in this beautiful place and with a heavy heart though we wanted to see the sunset we couldnโt as we had rush back soon. But definitely, one day we will and will definately share a post about it. Incase, you have been to this place or now that I have told you’ll how to get there, do share with us your photos of this particular place when you visit, it could be selfies or random photos of this place. Share Your Photos on facebook, twitter or instagramย using the hashtag #TravelwithAllycaral. Trust me, I am really looking forward to see your pictures!
Well, before I say a Goodbye, Remember we only live once, So lets live the same to the fullest.
FACTS YOU SHOULD KNOW
This footpath is an initiative to beautify Panjim under the Smart City Mission. There are several such places and structures which are installed under the mission in the entire capital. The work for the same is in full swing. The person who is closely working to ensure the work is sped up is Ex- MLA Shri. Sidharth Kuncolienkar and his team.
TIP OF THE DAY
Enjoy the view, with any food items of your choice, however avoid taking alcohol as it is strictly prohibited in the area. If you are found drinking, then the cops which are present simply ask you to leave from the area. So avoid unnecessary argument and go there to enjoy the place rather than spoiling your mood for petty issues.
