Goa Records Fifth Highest October Rainfall in a Century

Goa experienced one of its wettest Octobers on record, with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) reporting 374.6mm of rain during October 2025. This makes it the fifth highest October rainfall total in the state in nearly 100 years of data.

The wettest October on record for Goa remains 2019, when 546.8mm of rain was recorded, followed by 2006 (423.8mm), 1955 (413.2mm), and 1985 (394.3mm). The latest figure places 2025 in fifth position, highlighting the unusual intensity of this year’s late monsoon surge.

Meteorologist and retired NIO chief scientist M. R. Ramesh Kumar explained that about 60% of the month’s rain fell during the last week of October, driven by a depression system over the southeastern Arabian Sea that caused widespread precipitation across Goa.

Rainfall, however, was uneven across the state. IMD data showed Pernem and Mormugao received the highest totals at 498mm each, while Valpoi recorded the lowest at 209mm till the morning of October 31.

Kumar described the pattern as “lopsided,” noting that most rain was concentrated in the second half of the month. “There was no rainfall on October 12 and 13, and only trace amounts were recorded on the 8th, 14th, and 18th,” he said.

The other years that make up the top 10 rainiest Octobers in Goa include 2009 (351.8mm), 1931 (344mm), 1928 (332mm), 2010 (325.5mm), and 2024 (300mm).

The data underscores how unpredictable the post-monsoon period can be — with global weather systems and sea surface conditions increasingly influencing local rainfall extremes.

Katy Perry and Justin Trudeau Confirm Relationship After Romantic Yacht Photos Emerge

Pop sensation Katy Perry and former Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau have officially confirmed their relationship, days after photos of the two getting intimate on her yacht near Santa Barbara made headlines worldwide. The news ends weeks of speculation after the pair were spotted together on multiple occasions.

As Katy Perry celebrated her 41st birthday, she and Justin Trudeau made their first public appearance in Paris. According to TMZ, the couple attended a cabaret show at the famous Crazy Horse Paris. They were photographed exiting the venue holding hands and smiling at paparazzi waiting outside.

During the outing, a fan greeted Katy with a rose to wish her a happy birthday, while Justin escorted her to their car. Katy looked radiant in a red dress, while Justin opted for a sleek black suit, the two appearing relaxed and happy together.

The relationship rumors first surfaced after photographs of the pair vacationing together off the California coast of Santa Barbara went viral earlier this month. The images showed the singer and the former world leader sharing intimate moments aboard her yacht.

Just days after the photos made waves, Katy made a playful reference to her love life during a concert in London. When a fan proposed to her on stage, she responded, “I wish you’d asked me 48 hours ago,” alluding to her newfound romance. She also joked, “No wonder I fall for Englishmen all the time… but not anymore.”

Katy Perry’s confirmation with Justin Trudeau comes months after her breakup with actor Orlando Bloom. The couple, who began dating in 2016 and got engaged in 2019, share a daughter, Daisy Dove. In a joint statement released earlier this year, the two revealed they had been focusing on co-parenting and maintaining a respectful family dynamic.

“Due to the abundance of recent interest and conversation surrounding Orlando Bloom and Katy Perry’s relationship, representatives have confirmed that Orlando and Katy have been shifting their relationship over the past many months to focus on coparenting,” the statement read. “They will continue to be seen together as a family, as their shared priority is — and always will be — raising their daughter with love, stability and mutual respect.”

As Perry enters a new chapter in her life, fans have been buzzing online about her relationship with Trudeau — one of the most surprising celebrity pairings of the year. The two have yet to comment publicly on how they met, but their recent Paris appearance makes it clear: Katy Perry and Justin Trudeau are officially a couple.

Reaching New Heights: Rise Tower Aims to Be the Tallest Building in the World

Saudi Arabia is set to redefine the limits of architecture with the proposed Rise Tower, a two-kilometer skyscraper in Riyadh that could become the tallest building in the world. Designed by HKS Architects, the tower is part of the North Pole Project, a 306-square-kilometer futuristic city north of Riyadh focused on sustainability, smart technology, and urban connectivity.

The Rise Tower embodies the kingdom’s Vision 2030 goals to diversify the economy, reduce dependence on oil, and transform Riyadh into a global hub for business and tourism. Its design, named “Lumenis” to symbolize light and transformation, has already earned the 2025 WAFX Prize for Climate and Energy Innovation.

Constructing a two-kilometer tower presents extraordinary engineering challenges. The building must withstand extreme wind loads, shifting temperatures, and desert sandstorms, while incorporating advanced foundation systems to support unprecedented weight. Engineers are exploring aerodynamic shapes, vibration-reduction systems, and possibly magnetic levitation elevators to efficiently transport occupants across hundreds of floors.

Backed by Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund, the Rise Tower will house residences, offices, hotels, entertainment centers, and aerial parks, essentially functioning as a vertical city. Its completion is expected to accelerate Riyadh’s transformation into a leading global city and establish a new landmark for the kingdom, much like the Burj Khalifa for Dubai.

Rise Tower is not just a skyscraper—it is a symbol of architectural ambition, urban innovation, and Saudi Arabia’s vision for the future, inviting the world to reimagine vertical living and sustainable city design.
