Papa John’s to Re-Enter India with 650 Outlets, First Store in Bengaluru This Year

Bengaluru: Global pizza giant Papa John’s is gearing up for a major comeback in India. After exiting the Indian market several years ago, the brand is set to open its first new store in Bengaluru this year, marking the beginning of an ambitious expansion plan.

Papa John’s aims to establish 650 outlets across India, signaling its renewed focus on one of the world’s fastest-growing quick-service restaurant (QSR) markets. With India’s thriving food delivery ecosystem and a young, pizza-loving demographic, the brand sees strong potential for long-term growth.

Industry analysts suggest Papa John’s entry will further intensify competition in India’s pizza market, currently dominated by Domino’s and Pizza Hut, along with homegrown brands. The company is expected to introduce localized menus tailored to Indian tastes, while maintaining its signature international offerings.

Papa John’s comeback reflects the rising confidence of global F&B brands in India’s expanding consumer base. As the first store in Bengaluru sets the tone, pizza enthusiasts across the country can expect many more outlets to follow in the coming years.

Three Indian Breakfast Classics Ranked Among World’s Best by TasteAtlas

June 2025 – India:
India’s vibrant culinary culture has received yet another global endorsement. According to the prestigious food and travel guide TasteAtlas, three beloved Indian breakfast dishes have made it to the “Top 50 Best Breakfasts in the World” list — with Misal Pav, Paratha, and Chole Bhature earning high spots for their bold flavors, tradition, and popularity.

This recognition not only highlights India’s rich gastronomic heritage but also reaffirms the nation’s place on the global food map.

🇮🇳 Here Are the Indian Dishes That Made the List:

🥘 1. Misal Pav – Ranked 18th

Originating from Maharashtra, Misal Pav is a spicy, tangy, and flavorful curry made with sprouted lentils, topped with farsan (crunchy snacks), onions, coriander, and a dash of lime — served with fluffy pav (bread rolls). Known for its depth of flavor and satisfying heat, it’s a staple morning meal for many in western India and a street food legend.

🫓 2. Paratha – Ranked 23rd

A beloved dish across North India, Parathas are flaky, pan-fried flatbreads often stuffed with fillings like potato, paneer, cauliflower, or radish. Served hot with butter, curd, and pickles, parathas are the heart and soul of many Indian breakfasts, especially in Punjab and Delhi households.

🍛 3. Chole Bhature – Ranked 32nd

This iconic North Indian combo of spicy chickpea curry (chole) and deep-fried, fluffy bread (bhature) is a weekend breakfast favorite. Hearty, indulgent, and packed with flavor, chole bhature is often found in Delhi eateries, dhabas, and street food stalls, drawing lines of loyal fans every morning.

🌍 India on the Global Breakfast Map

The TasteAtlas rankings are based on reviews from food critics, global travelers, and culinary enthusiasts who vote on taste, cultural value, and authenticity. With over 50 countries represented, seeing not one but three Indian dishes in the top half of the list is a moment of pride for Indian food lovers everywhere.

From spicy and savory to comforting and rich, these dishes represent the diverse and dynamic breakfast traditions of India — where every region brings something unique to the table.

📢 Indian Food Goes Global

Indian cuisine continues to gain international acclaim, from Michelin-starred restaurants to viral street food videos. This recognition by TasteAtlas adds to a growing global appreciation of Indian flavors — not just in fine dining but in everyday staples like breakfast.

So next time you’re planning your morning meal, you might just want to start your day the Indian way.

🍩 Celebrating National Donut Day: A Sweet Tradition with a Rich History

June 2025 |

Every year on the first Friday of June, donut lovers across the United States and beyond celebrate National Donut Day—a lighthearted but meaningful holiday that honors not only one of the world’s favorite sweet treats but also the heroes who helped popularize it.

🎉 What Is National Donut Day?

National Donut Day isn’t just an excuse to indulge in sugary goodness (though we fully support that!). It was originally established in 1938 by The Salvation Army to honor the “Donut Lassies”—brave women volunteers who served donuts to soldiers on the frontlines during World War I.

These women provided warmth, comfort, and a little taste of home to American troops, often cooking donuts in oil inside helmets. The donut quickly became a symbol of hope and morale, and the tradition has lived on for nearly a century.

🍩 Why We Love Donuts

From classic glazed rings to gourmet creations filled with cream, topped with bacon, or decorated like artwork, donuts have become an iconic part of food culture around the world. Their appeal lies in:

  • Endless variety — Yeast, cake, filled, frosted, sprinkled, or powdered
  • Portability — A perfect grab-and-go treat
  • Comfort factor — Universally loved across generations and cultures

🏙️ Donuts Today: A Global Trend

While the holiday started in the U.S., National Donut Day is now observed internationally, with bakeries offering special deals, limited-edition flavors, and free donuts to customers. Social media lights up with donut-themed posts, food bloggers share recipes, and fans celebrate their favorite local donut spots.

Even brands and coffee chains get in on the action with special promotions, making it one of the tastiest unofficial food holidays of the year.

💡 Fun Facts About Donuts

  • The largest donut ever made weighed over 1.7 tons!
  • In the U.S. alone, over 10 billion donuts are made each year.
  • “Donut” and “doughnut” are both correct spellings—“donut” became popular thanks to branding (thanks, Dunkin’).

🍩 How to Celebrate

  • Grab a free or discounted donut at your favorite shop (many run promos!)
  • Try a new flavor you’ve never had before
  • Make donuts at home—baked, fried, or air-fried versions are easier than ever
  • Share the sweetness by bringing a box to coworkers, neighbors, or friends
  • Post your #DonutDay delight on social media

🎖️ A Sweet Treat with Meaning

While National Donut Day is undeniably fun, it’s also a reminder of how small acts—like serving a donut to someone in need—can carry big emotional impact. It’s a celebration of comfort, generosity, and the joy of sharing.

So whether you prefer jelly-filled, chocolate-glazed, or powdered and plain, go ahead and enjoy a donut today. You’ve got history on your side.

Happy National Donut Day! 🍩💛
