Superhero Showdown: Marvel’s ‘Fantastic Four: First Steps’ Eyes Box Office Glory After DC’s Superman Triumph

Written by Tanisha Cardozo

Following the thunderous box office success of DC’s Superman, the spotlight now shifts to Marvel Studios as it prepares to release Fantastic Four: First Steps on July 25, 2025.

Starring a powerhouse cast — Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, Joseph Quinn, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach — this bold reboot of Marvel’s first family is being watched closely by fans and critics alike. Much like Superman, Fantastic Four will skip the traditional origin story in favor of launching directly into a world where the heroes are already powered, self-aware, and active. This fresh storytelling approach promises more action and less backstory, giving longtime fans something new to enjoy.

While Superman has already captured the box office crown and critical praise, Marvel’s challenge is clear. With pre-sales reaching $13 million, Fantastic Four is outperforming Thunderbolts and Captain America: Brave New World, yet it still trails Superman by roughly 20%. That gap is causing a bit of nervous energy inside Marvel Studios.

Adding to the pressure is the unexpected success of Jurassic World: Rebirth, which recently smashed its way past $545 million worldwide. It’s a reminder that superheroes no longer dominate by default — they must deliver.

One of the most anticipated aspects of Fantastic Four: First Steps is the chemistry among its cast. Pedro Pascal steps into the shoes of Reed Richards, Vanessa Kirby plays Sue Storm, Joseph Quinn as Johnny Storm, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach takes on Ben Grimm. Marvel fans are curious to see how this new team gels in a post-Avengers world.

Interestingly, this battle of brands also mirrors a shift in creative leadership. James Gunn, once a Marvel mainstay, now helms DC’s creative vision. His influence on Superman‘s tone and success is already being felt — raising the stakes for Marvel’s next moves.

July 2025 has become a pivotal month for the superhero genre. With two franchise-redefining films hitting cinemas just weeks apart, fans have more to look forward to than ever. Whether you wear your cape for Marvel or DC, one thing is clear: the ultimate winner is the moviegoer.

Marvel’s turn is here. Can Fantastic Four: First Steps rise to the occasion?  Theaters will decide. Releasing worldwide on July 25.

Stay tuned for reviews, updates, and post-release box office reports.

Goa’s Mauvin Godinho to Back Feature Film on Ram Janmabhoomi: ‘Ayodhya – The Final Argument’

Panaji | July 13, 2025 — In a surprising intersection of politics and cinema, Goa’s Transport Minister Mauvin Godinho is set to step into the film production space. According to credible media reports, the minister will produce a feature film titled “Ayodhya: The Final Argument” — a cinematic deep dive into the Ram Janmabhoomi movement, one of the most defining and debated chapters in India’s post-independence history.

The project reportedly aims to weave together elements of faith, law, politics, and historical testimony, drawing from the landmark legal case that culminated in the 2019 Supreme Court verdict and the subsequent consecration of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya.

Though official announcements from Godinho or the production team are awaited, sources suggest that filming could begin in 2026, with plans for a large-scale release across India. Early reports also hint at a script that is part legal drama, part historical narrative, and part philosophical meditation on faith and national identity.

A Cinematic Re-telling of Modern Indian History

The title, “Ayodhya: The Final Argument”, appears to reference the climactic courtroom proceedings that were pivotal in settling the decades-long dispute. The case, which saw some of India’s top legal minds representing various religious groups, concluded with a unanimous verdict by the Supreme Court that granted the disputed land for the construction of a Ram Temple while allocating alternate land for a mosque.

The film is expected to blend archival material, courtroom drama, and dramatized storytelling, presenting the case not just as a legal dispute, but as a national reflection on heritage, identity, and coexistence.

Political Vision Meets Cultural Expression

Mauvin Godinho, who has held multiple cabinet portfolios in Goa, is known for his keen interest in cultural affairs and spiritual matters. His entry into film production with a subject of this magnitude may mark a new chapter in political figures using cinema to engage in nation-building narratives.

While the film is likely to spark conversations and possibly controversy, it also presents an opportunity to reflect on how cinema can serve as a bridge between ideology and introspection, history and healing.

Stay tuned for more as Ayodhya: The Final Argument takes shape — from script to screen.

‘Ne Zha 2’ Set for Global Theatrical Release with Michelle Yeoh Leading English Voice Cast

Written by Tanisha Cardozo

The Chinese animation juggernaut Ne Zha 2 is set to storm international theaters this summer, with a much-anticipated English-language release scheduled for August 22, 2025. Distributed in partnership between A24 and CMC Pictures, the film will open across the United States, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand — and it’s bringing some serious star power with it.

Leading the English dub is none other than Michelle Yeoh, the Academy Award-winning actress known for Everything Everywhere All at Once and Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon. “I’m honored to be part of Ne Zha 2, a landmark in Chinese animation,” Yeoh shared, emphasizing the film’s emotionally resonant and universal storytelling.

Directed by Yang Yu, who also helmed the first Ne Zha film in 2019, the sequel draws on The Investiture of the Gods, a legendary Chinese novel. The story follows Ne Zha — a powerful, misunderstood boy born with dangerous magical abilities. Rejected by gods and mortals alike, he must rise above his destiny to confront an ancient evil that threatens humanity itself.

But this isn’t just another animated film. Ne Zha 2 has already smashed box office records, earning 12.3 billion yuan (approximately $1.71 billion), officially dethroning Pixar’s Inside Out 2 as the highest-grossing animated movie globally and placing it eighth on the all-time box office chart.

With a powerful mythological narrative, groundbreaking visuals, and a format available in IMAX and 3D, Ne Zha 2 is more than a film — it’s an international spectacle. While it has already captivated audiences in China, the English version could expand its reach and cultural impact dramatically.

The rest of the English voice cast has yet to be announced, but with Michelle Yeoh leading the charge, anticipation is soaring.

Whether you’re a fan of animation, mythology, or global cinema, Ne Zha 2 promises to be one of 2025’s most thrilling releases.

“I Am Nothing”: Museum of Goa Hosts Documentary Screening on Vamona Navelkar with Director Talk

Panaji, July 2025 – The Museum of Goa (MOG), known for celebrating local art and culture, is hosting an exclusive screening of I Am Nothing, a soul-stirring documentary that explores the life, work, and philosophy of one of Goa’s most enigmatic artists — Vamona Navelkar.

Directed by Goa-based filmmaker and writer Ronak Kamat, the documentary offers a rare glimpse into the spiritual and artistic journey of a man who quietly transcended borders and boundaries. The event will take place on Sunday, July 13, 2025, at 11:30 AM, at the Museum of Goa in Pilerne Industrial Estate, Bardez, followed by an engaging conversation with the director.

Vamona Navelkar, who passed away in 2021, left behind a body of work that is both intensely personal and universally resonant. From his early years in Mozambique, to his academic pursuits in Portugal, and finally his return to Goa, Navelkar’s life was marked by cultural shifts, personal loss, and an unwavering devotion to art.

He famously signed many of his works with the name ‘Ganesh’, in tribute to his deceased brother — a symbolic act that reflected both his humility and his philosophical outlook. His quiet mantra, “I am nothing,” was not defeatist, but deeply spiritual — a rejection of ego and a celebration of anonymity.

“This film is not just about Vamona’s art, but about a way of thinking and being,” said director Ronak Kamat. “His story is about identity, loss, and finding purpose in humility.”

The screening offers audiences an immersive experience of his journey, as told through visuals, interviews, and archival material. It’s a must-attend event for art lovers, students, filmmakers, and anyone intrigued by Goa’s rich cultural tapestry.

Event Details:

  • Date: Sunday, July 13, 2025
  • Time: 11:30 AM onwards
