Milagris High School Shines at Taluka-Level Kabaddi Championship in Sindhudurg


Milagris High School has once again proven its excellence in school-level sports by securing a sweeping victory at the taluka-level kabaddi competition held at Talwade High School, Sindhudurg. The event was organized under the aegis of the Directorate of Sports and Youth Services, Maharashtra State, in collaboration with the Office of the District Sports Officer, Sindhudurg.

The competition witnessed participation from several schools across the region, but it was Milagris High School that stole the spotlight. The school’s Under-14 Boys team, Under-14 Girls team, and Children’s Under-17 team each emerged as final champions in their respective categories. These victories not only brought glory to the school but also secured all three teams a well-deserved spot in the upcoming district-level kabaddi competition.

This outstanding achievement is a result of dedicated training and strong mentorship. The students were guided by the school’s passionate sports teachers, Mr. Hitesh Malandkar and Mrs. Sharon Alfonso, along with kabaddi specialists Mr. Ajay Jadhav and Mr. Felix Fernandez, whose expert coaching played a pivotal role in shaping the performance of these young athletes.

The entire school community rallied behind the teams. Special congratulations were extended by Father Richard Saldana, Supervisor Mrs. Sandhya Mungekar, and the Principal, who, along with all teaching and non-teaching staff, contributed to creating an environment of motivation and support.

Milagris High School, Sawantwadi Clinches Top Spot at Taluka-Level National Science Drama Festival 2025


Milagris High School, Sawantwadi has made its mark at the Taluka-Level National Science Drama Festival 2025 by clinching first place in a competition that brought together schools from across the Sawantwadi Taluka. Organized by the Sindhudurg District Science Association in association with Nutan Secondary School, Insuli, the event took place on Wednesday, 10th September 2025 and saw a vibrant display of talent, creativity, and passion for science-based storytelling.

The theatre team from Milagris High School not only secured the top prize but also earned two prestigious recognitions—Best Direction and Best Stagecraft. This comprehensive win qualifies them for the upcoming district-level round of the festival. The dramatic performance delivered by the students was both conceptually strong and theatrically engaging, impressing both the jury and the audience.

The student cast featured Harshita Devrukhkar, Siya Chavan, Poorvi Kanade, Kazim Jaddi, Atharva Pednekar, Siddhi Naik, Kavya Gawade, and Chinmayi Kangralkar. Their compelling presence on stage was brought to life under the expert direction of Sir. Sushant Joshi and Sir. Jaydev Manerekar. The intricacies of stagecraft were handled with precision by Sir. Dattaram Naik and Sir. Sushant Gawade, while choreography was artfully managed by Tr. Pranali Redkar and Tr. Varsha Devan. Costume design was creatively put together by Tr. Varsha Rane and Tr. Janet Almeida, with musical support provided by Sir. Amol Rawool and Sir. Swapnil Gore. Video documentation of the performance was handled by Sir. George D’Mello. The overall coordination and team management were overseen by Tr. Varsha Devan, whose efforts ensured seamless execution.

This win is a proud moment for the entire Milagris High School community. Principal Rev. Fr. Richard Saldanha, Supervisor Tr. Somerville College, Oxford Honours Natarajan Chandrasekaran with Prestigious Foundation Fellowship


Somerville College at the University of Oxford has proudly announced the election of Mr Natarajan Chandrasekaran, Chairman of Tata Sons, as a Foundation Fellow—one of the highest honours the College bestows for philanthropy. This prestigious recognition was conferred during a ceremony held on 23rd September 2025, attended by distinguished guests including the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Oxford, Professor Irene Tracey, the High Commissioner of India, HE Vikram Doraiswami, and other prominent leaders from the Tata Group and academia.

Chandrasekaran, widely known as Chandra, was elected to this Fellowship by the outgoing Principal, Baroness Jan Royall, along with the Governing Body of Somerville College, in acknowledgment of his instrumental role in enabling the creation of the College’s new flagship teaching and learning hub—the Ratan Tata Building. Named after Mr Ratan Tata, a revered philanthropist and Chandrasekaran’s mentor, this building will serve as the permanent home for the Oxford India Centre for Sustainable Development (OICSD). Since its inception in 2013, the OICSD has been a leading force in researching critical issues related to sustainability and development that impact India and the global community.

A Foundation Fellowship creates a lifelong bond between the recipient and Somerville College and is a testament to the transformative support and enduring partnership between the Tata Group and Oxford. Catherine Royle, Principal of Somerville College, praised Chandrasekaran as “a shining testament to the power of meritocracy and just how much can be achieved through intellect and hard work,” celebrating his ongoing contributions to the shared vision between the College, the OICSD, and the Tata Group.

In his remarks, Natarajan Chandrasekaran highlighted the long-standing commitment of Somerville College to addressing pressing social causes over nearly 150 years, aligning with the core values of the Tata Group and its luminary Ratan Tata. He expressed confidence that the partnership’s fertile interdisciplinary environment would continue to foster collaboration and innovation to tackle some of the world’s most urgent environmental and social challenges.

Chandrasekaran’s academic journey began with a Bachelor’s degree in Applied Sciences from the Coimbatore Institute of Technology, Tamil Nadu, followed by a Master of Computer Applications from the National Institute of Technology, Tiruchirappalli. Since completing his studies, he has dedicated himself to the Tata Group, ascending through leadership roles to become Chairman of Tata Sons, the holding company of India’s largest business conglomerate.

The conferral of the Foundation Fellowship marks a significant milestone in the enduring relationship between one of India’s most respected business leaders and one of the world’s most prestigious academic institutions, reinforcing a shared commitment to philanthropy, education, and sustainable development.

On September 25, 2025, PM SHRI Government High School Morpirla, located in Quepem, Goa, took part in the national cleanliness movement “Ek Din, Ek Ghanta, Ek Sath” under the broader Swachhata Hi Sewa (SHS) campaign. The initiative emphasized the importance of cleanliness and sanitation through collective action, aiming to foster awareness and social responsibility in every community.

The school organized a focused one-hour cleanliness drive between 8:00 AM and 9:00 AM within the school premises.
