Ecumenical Fellowship at Pilar Seminary Celebrates Unity in Christ

Written by Elvis Fernandes

In a heartwarming expression of faith and togetherness, the All India Mission Seminary of the Society of Pilar hosted an Ecumenical Fellowship on January 25, 2026, marking the conclusion of the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity. Centred on the theme, โ€œThere is one body and one Spirit, just as you were called to the one hope of your callingโ€ (Ephesians 4:4), the gathering brought together members and leaders from diverse Christian traditions to celebrate their shared faith in Christ.

The evening highlighted the importance of unity across denominations, transcending differences in tradition, language and culture. Mathew Samuel, IAS (retd), from the St. Thomas Marthoma Syrian Church, Santa Cruz, spoke on the relevance of Christian unity in India, stressing that standing together in faith remains essential regardless of denominational identity and reflects the nationโ€™s foundational principle of unity in diversity.

The programme began with a warm welcome from the rector of the All India Mission Seminary, who extended greetings of peace to all present. Representatives from St. Maryโ€™s Syrian Orthodox Church, St. Thomas Marthoma Syrian Church, the Methodist Church, Brethren Assembly, Rupantaran Fellowship Church, Tangkhul Baptist Church and North-East Baptist Church participated, reinforcing the spirit of fellowship and mutual respect.

Members of the Rupantaran Fellowship Church set a devotional tone through a prayerful dance performance, followed by a welcome address from Rev. Dr. Norman Almeida, Rector of the seminary, who emphasised the growing need for fellowship and unity within the Christian community. The evening continued with gospel songs by the Tangkhul and North-East Baptist Church choirs, creating an atmosphere of shared worship and joy.

A reflection on the Word of God was offered by Dr. James Samuel of the Brethren Assembly, who spoke about unity rooted in faith rather than uniformity, reminding the gathering that Christians, though diverse in tradition, share one Lord, one faith and one hope. The programme also included hymns and prayers led by choirs from different churches, culminating in the Prayers of the Faithful offered by the St. Thomas Marthoma Syrian Church.

The fellowship concluded with a prayer led by Rev. Pradeep Kumar of the Panjim Methodist Church, seeking Godโ€™s blessings for continued unity and mission among all believers. A final hymn by members of St. Maryโ€™s Syrian Orthodox Church marked the close of the prayerful gathering, which ended with a fellowship meal, allowing participants to continue building relationships and celebrating their shared faith in Christ.

FLY91 Launches Daily Kochiโ€“Agatti Flights, Plans Expansion to Seven New Regional Stations

Written by Tanisha Cardozo || Team Allycaral Travel Desk

FLY91 has announced the launch of daily non-stop flights between Kochi and Agatti in the Lakshadweep islands, with bookings now open for travel in both directions. The announcement comes as the regional airline accelerates its network growth, with plans to add seven new stations over the next 90 days as part of a phased expansion strategy.

The new Kochiโ€“Agatti service marks a significant milestone for FLY91, enhancing connectivity between the Indian mainland and Lakshadweep through a key southern gateway. The airline currently operates flights between Agatti and Manohar International Airport in Goa, and the addition of Kochi provides island residents and visitors with greater flexibility, improved access, and more seamless onward connections.

As part of its expansion roadmap, FLY91 will add Kochi, Rajahmundry, Vijayawada, Hubballi, Dabolim, Nanded, and Indore to its network. Once operational, the airlineโ€™s footprint will expand to 15 stations, supported by a fleet of six ATR 72-600 aircraft. Three additional aircraft are scheduled for induction within the next 45 days, enabling higher frequencies and the introduction of new city pairs while maintaining operational reliability.

The airlineโ€™s expansion will roll out in phases beginning in early February with the launch of daily Kochiโ€“Agatti flights. This will be followed by thrice-daily services on the Rajahmundryโ€“Hyderabad and Vijayawadaโ€“Hyderabad routes, along with daily flights between Hubballiโ€“Hyderabad and Hubballiโ€“Bengaluru. Subsequent phases will include connections from Nanded to South Goa and Bengaluru, while Indore will be linked to Jalgaon and Hyderabad.

Agatti Island, known for its coral reefs, lagoons, and pristine beaches, is an emerging tourism destination. Improved air connectivity is expected to support sustainable tourism while also easing travel for island residents who depend on limited transport options for education, healthcare, and commerce.

Commenting on the launch, Manoj Chacko, Managing Director and CEO of FLY91, said the daily Kochiโ€“Agatti flights add momentum to regional aviation in India and reaffirm the airlineโ€™s commitment to connecting aspirational tier-two and tier-three destinations. He noted that improved regional connectivity will play a key role in unlocking Indiaโ€™s next phase of economic and tourism growth.

Headquartered in Ribandar, Goa, FLY91 currently connects nine destinations and operates from regional hubs including Goa, Hyderabad, Pune, and Bengaluru, with a strong focus on underserved regional markets.

Saving Your Childโ€™s Tooth: A Parentโ€™s Guide to Pediatric Dental Care

Written by Dr. Mallika Manoj Prabhudesai, Consultant Dental Surgeon

Losing a baby tooth is often celebrated as a sign of growing up, but the loss of a permanent tooth can have long-term physical and emotional consequences. For parents, understanding pediatric dental care is essential to ensure a childโ€™s healthy development and confident smile. Many dental problems in children begin quietly and progress rapidly if not addressed in time.

Cavities remain one of the most common dental issues among children, often caused by poor brushing habits, frequent consumption of sugary foods, and sleeping with milk bottles. While minor cavities can be treated easily with fillings, deeper decay may lead to infections that require root canal treatment and crowns. Early detection plays a crucial role in preventing pain and complex procedures.

Dental injuries are another concern, especially as children become more active. Falls, sports injuries, and everyday accidents can damage or completely knock out teeth. In such cases, immediate action is vital. A knocked-out tooth should be handled carefully, rinsed gently, and either placed back into the socket or stored in milk or the childโ€™s saliva before reaching a dentist as quickly as possible. Timely intervention can often save the tooth.

Orthodontic issues may also develop early, even before all permanent teeth appear. Jaw misalignment, crowded teeth, or bite problems can worsen over time if ignored. Early evaluation allows dentists to guide proper jaw growth and reduce the need for extensive treatment later.

Prevention remains the most effective approach to pediatric dental care. Regular dental check-ups every six months help identify issues early, while daily brushing, flossing, and supervised oral hygiene routines build healthy habits. Encouraging nutritious, tooth-friendly foods and limiting sugary snacks further supports strong teeth and gums.

By prioritising dental care from a young age, parents can help ensure that their children grow up with healthy teeth, fewer complications, and confident smiles that last a lifetime.
