Panaji: Shree Damodar High School emerged champions of the Salcete zone in the Under-14 President’s Cup inter-school cricket tournament organised by the Goa Cricket Association, defeating Bhatikar High School by eight wickets in the final played at S.K. Ground, Molcornem.
Batting first after winning the toss, Bhatikar High School put up a competitive total of 126 for 3 in their allotted 25 overs. Ayush Gaonkar anchored the innings with a well-crafted 60 off 51 balls, hitting five boundaries and two sixes, while Sanch Naik provided steady support with a patient 50 off 80 deliveries. For Shree Damodar, captain Rumaan Mulam led from the front with the ball, picking up two wickets for 30 runs, while Affan Shaikh chipped in with one wicket.
In reply, Shree Damodar High School displayed remarkable composure in the chase, reaching 129 for 2 in just 21.2 overs. Usman Ghani played a match-winning knock, remaining unbeaten on 67 off 60 balls, which included eight fours and a six. Abhiyaan Naik contributed 24 runs, while skipper Rumaan Mulam added 20 to guide the team to victory.
Rehan Khan and Sanch Naik managed to pick up a wicket each for Bhatikar High School, but were unable to stop Shree Damodar’s dominant batting performance.
With this convincing win, Shree Damodar High School secured the Salcete zone title, showcasing strong all-round performance and teamwork throughout the tournament.
