The Tamil film industry has been left shocked after the unreleased film Jana Nayagan, starring Vijay, was leaked online in high-definition quality ahead of its official release. The leak, which surfaced just days before the Tamil Nadu Assembly elections, has sparked widespread outrage among fans and industry insiders.
Initially, short clips from the film began circulating on social media late Thursday night. By Friday morning, however, full HD prints of the entire film had reportedly been uploaded on piracy websites, raising serious concerns about content security. The film, which is yet to receive certification from the Central Board of Film Certification, has already been facing delays for the past few months.
Fans of Vijay have strongly condemned the leak, urging people not to share pirated links and to respect the efforts of the filmmakers. Many have also speculated about the source of the leak, especially given that the film is still weeks away from its theatrical release.
Industry voices have also reacted sharply. Trade analysts and producers have called the situation alarming, pointing out the financial and emotional toll such leaks can have on large-scale productions. Some have suggested that the only way to control the damage could be an immediate theatrical release, once certification is secured.
