A stellar all-round performance led by Rumaan Mulam guided PIOC to a dominant 65-run victory over VRS-11 in the Gold final of the 2nd All India T-20 Under-16 Cricket Championship, organised by the Telangana Schools Cricket Association. The final, held at the Arlem ground, saw PIOC excel in both batting and bowling to seal the title in convincing fashion.
After winning the toss, VRS-11 opted to field first, hoping to restrict PIOC early. However, PIOCโs batting unit came out aggressively and built a strong innings. Rumaan Mulam anchored the innings with an impressive 64 off 44 balls, striking seven boundaries and maintaining control throughout.
He was well supported by Maheer Mogvir, who added a valuable 35 runs, while Armaan Nadaf remained unbeaten on 38, ensuring a strong finish. Their combined effort helped PIOC post an imposing total of 195 for 3 in their allotted 20 overs.
Chasing a challenging target of 196, VRS-11 struggled to build momentum. Shyam (26) and Prasanth Kolli (21) attempted to stabilise the innings, but regular wickets kept them under pressure throughout.
PIOCโs disciplined bowling attack ensured there was no comeback, restricting VRS-11 to 130 for 9 in 20 overs. Shreyash Shingare led the bowling attack with three crucial wickets, while Aryan Bhonsle picked up two. Suraj Hajare also contributed with a wicket.
With a commanding performance in both departments, PIOC displayed excellent teamwork, composure, and match awareness to emerge as deserving champions. The victory highlights the strength of grassroots cricket and the promising future of young talents like Rumaan Mulam.
