Kedarnath Helicopter Services to Begin April 21 with Enhanced Safety Measures

Helicopter shuttle services to Kedarnath Dham are set to resume from April 21, 2026, a day ahead of the temple reopening, offering pilgrims a faster and more accessible travel option during the Char Dham Yatra.

The services will operate from key helipads located in Guptkashi, Sirsi, and Phata. The Uttarakhand Civil Aviation Development Authority (UCADA) has already selected operators and finalized fare structures, ensuring streamlined operations for the upcoming pilgrimage season.

Online ticket bookings are expected to begin between April 10 and 12 in coordination with Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation, making the process more convenient and transparent for devotees planning their เคฏเคพเคคเฅเคฐเคพ.

In a significant move to enhance safety, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation is finalizing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to ensure strict compliance with aviation safety norms. These measures come in response to last yearโ€™s tragic helicopter accidents that claimed 13 lives, prompting authorities to adopt a more robust and technology-driven approach.

Advanced digital monitoring systems will be implemented to track flights in real-time, while onboard cameras will ensure adherence to safety protocols. Additionally, ceilometers will be installed at helipads to monitor weather conditions accurately, reducing risks associated with sudden climatic changes in the Himalayan region.

Officials are also considering extending these enhanced safety mechanisms to other key pilgrimage sites, including Badrinath, Gangotri, and Yamunotri, to ensure a safer Char Dham Yatra experience overall.

With improved infrastructure, strict safety measures, and efficient booking systems, authorities aim to provide a seamless and secure travel experience for thousands of pilgrims expected to visit Kedarnath this year.
