The Chetak Screen Awards 2026 brought glamour, credibility, and cinematic excellence together in a grand ceremony held in Mumbai on April 5, celebrating the best of Hindi cinema and OTT from the past year.
In what turned out to be one of Bollywood’s most memorable award nights, director Aditya Dhar’s film Dhurandhar emerged as the biggest winner, sweeping an impressive 14 awards across major categories. Dhar himself won Best Director, while the film also dominated technical and performance categories, reaffirming its impact on audiences and critics alike.
Meanwhile, Homebound, directed by Neeraj Ghaywan, was honoured with the prestigious Best Film award. The trophy was presented by Devendra Fadnavis and Nita Ambani, marking a proud moment for the film’s team.
In the acting categories, Ranveer Singh won Best Actor (Male) for his powerful performance in Dhurandhar, while Yami Gautam was named Best Actor (Female) for her role in Haq. Supporting roles were recognised with Akshaye Khanna and Shalini Vatsa taking home honours.
A highlight of the evening was the Lifetime Achievement Award conferred upon veteran actor Dharmendra, accepted emotionally by his son Bobby Deol. The award was presented by industry stalwarts including Javed Akhtar and Ramesh Sippy, alongside Devendra Fadnavis.
The ceremony also reflected the growing importance of digital entertainment, introducing five new categories dedicated to OTT content. Stolen emerged as a standout winner in this segment, bagging Best OTT Film, Best Director (OTT) for Karan Tejpal, Best Actor (Male) for Abhishek Banerjee, and Best Script, co-written by Karan Tejpal, Gaurav Dhingra, and Swapnil Salkar. Sanya Malhotra won Best Actor (Female) – OTT Film for her performance in Mrs.
The evening was hosted by Alia Bhatt, joined by Sunil Grover and Zakir Khan, adding entertainment and charm to the proceedings. A poignant In Memoriam segment honoured industry legends who passed away in 2025, drawing a standing ovation from attendees.
With a transparent selection process led by the Screen Academy and a focus on merit, creativity, and authenticity, the Chetak Screen Awards 2026 reaffirmed its position as one of India’s most credible film honours, celebrating both cinematic brilliance and evolving storytelling formats.
