Chowgule, MCC, and Dempo Dominate Day 1 of Goa Premier Division League Round 4

The fourth round of the Goa Premier Division League commenced with dominant performances from Chowgule Sports Club, Margao Cricket Club, and Dempo Cricket Club, as bowlers took centre stage across all matches on the opening day. Organized by the Goa Cricket Association, the league continues to showcase competitive domestic cricket talent in the state.

At the Chicalim SAG Ground, Chowgule Sports Club gained a strong advantage after dismissing Panjim Gymkhana for just 101 runs in their first innings. Shadab Khan top-scored with a fighting 45, but it was Shubham Desai’s outstanding spell of 7 wickets for 29 runs that dismantled the opposition. Chowgule responded with 213 runs, with contributions from Madhur (42), Felix Alemao (37), and an unbeaten 36 by Shubham Tari. Mohit Redkar stood out for Panjim Gymkhana with an impressive 6-wicket haul. In the second innings, Panjim Gymkhana were struggling at 18 for 2, still trailing behind.

At the Porvorim GCA Academy Ground, Margao Cricket Club posted a commanding total of 293 runs against Salgaocar Cricket Club. Deepraj Gaonkar led the charge with 81 runs, supported by Umang Gosavi (71) and Aryan Narvekar (39). Despite Ruthvik Naik’s six-wicket performance, Salgaocar found themselves in trouble at 47 for 2 in reply, facing a significant deficit.

Meanwhile, at the NAPEX ground, Dempo Cricket Club asserted control over Geno Sports Club. After bowling out Geno for 121 runs, Dempo built a steady reply, reaching 129 for 3. Sarthak Bhike’s patient half-century (54) and Abhinav Tej Rana’s 36 helped Dempo secure a crucial lead. The bowling effort was well shared, with multiple players picking up key wickets.

With two days of play remaining in all matches, the opening day has clearly tilted the balance in favour of Chowgule, MCC, and Dempo. Their strong bowling performances have laid the foundation for potential victories as the league action continues.
