Kenvue India & IAP Bengaluru Spotlight Science-Backed Skincare for Children at ‘Oat Nature Lab’


Kenvue India, the makers of Aveeno Baby, in collaboration with the Indian Academy of Pediatrics (IAP) Bengaluru Chapter, hosted the second edition of its global scientific immersion programme ‘Oat Nature Lab’, bringing together leading healthcare professionals to spotlight evidence-based skincare solutions for pediatric sensitive skin.

The initiative focused on advancing awareness around sensitive skin conditions in children and reinforcing the importance of science-backed care, particularly the role of colloidal oatmeal and emollient therapy in managing conditions such as atopic dermatitis, eczema, xerosis, and diaper dermatitis. With sensitive skin conditions increasingly becoming a concern in India, experts highlighted that atopic dermatitis affects a significant percentage of children, with prevalence estimates ranging between 20 to 39 percent.

Experts at the event noted that rapid urbanisation, rising pollution levels, and increased exposure to allergens have contributed to the growing incidence of pediatric skin issues, especially in cities like Bengaluru. Despite this, preventive skincare for infants and young children often remains overlooked.

The event featured interactive sessions and discussions led by prominent medical professionals, including Dr. A.R. Somashekar, Prof. Dr. R. Kishore Kumar, Dr. Vivin Abraham, and Dr. Divya Sharma, who shared clinical insights and best practices in managing sensitive skin conditions. The discussions emphasized the importance of early intervention, proper cleansing routines, and consistent use of emollients enriched with lipids, ceramides, and colloidal oatmeal to restore and maintain the skin barrier.

During the panel discussion, experts stressed the need to educate parents and caregivers about appropriate skincare practices, noting that overbathing and the use of unsuitable products can worsen skin conditions in infants. They highlighted that gentle, non-soap cleansing solutions and regular moisturization play a crucial role in improving outcomes and enhancing quality of life for children with sensitive skin.

Kenvue also showcased its latest innovation, the Aveeno Baby Daily Moisture Cleansing Bar, developed in collaboration with pediatricians and dermatologists, designed specifically for newborn skin. The product reflects the brand’s continued focus on combining scientific research with naturally derived ingredients.

The event also saw participation from influencers and parents who shared real-life experiences of managing children with sensitive skin conditions, reinforcing the need for awareness, simplified skincare routines, and accessible science-backed solutions.

Through initiatives like ‘Oat Nature Lab’, Kenvue India aims to bridge the gap between clinical science and everyday skincare practices, empowering parents and caregivers to make informed decisions while promoting better skin health outcomes for children.
