Vedanta Sesa Goa Upgrades 15 Anganwadis in Bicholim Under Nand Ghar Project

Vedanta Sesa Goa has upgraded 15 anganwadis across Bicholim taluka under the flagship Nand Ghar Project, an initiative of the Anil Agarwal Foundation, reinforcing its commitment to strengthening early childhood education and community development in Goa.

The initiative aims to create improved learning environments for children aged 3 to 6 years, ensuring a more holistic developmental experience. As part of this phase, anganwadis in Maem, Mulgao, Piligaon, Srigao, Dhabdhaba and Bicholim have been upgraded, with a larger goal of modernising 30 anganwadis across the state.

Each Nand Ghar centre has been transformed into a modern, child-friendly learning space equipped with smart classrooms, digital learning tools, and innovative BaLA (Building as Learning Aid) designs. The upgraded facilities also include access to safe drinking water, hygienic sanitation, and improved infrastructure, ensuring a safe and inclusive environment for young learners.

Beyond early education, these centres are designed to function as community hubs. They host nutrition programmes for children, health check-ups, immunisation drives, and skill development initiatives for women, contributing to overall community well-being and resilience.

Speaking on the initiative, Sharmila Walvalkar, Sarpanch of V.P. Piligao, appreciated the developmental work carried out under the project, noting that the improved infrastructure and digital resources will significantly benefit children and strengthen the foundation of early learning in the village.

Dhirajkumar Jagdish, Deputy CEO of Vedanta IOG, highlighted the broader vision behind the initiative, stating that strengthening early childhood education is key to building resilient communities. He emphasised that the Nand Ghar Project reflects Vedantaโ€™s commitment to creating long-term grassroots impact through technology-enabled learning.

The Nand Ghar initiative has already crossed a milestone of over 10,000 centres across 16 states in India, positively impacting more than four lakh children and three lakh women daily. Aligned with the Government of Indiaโ€™s Integrated Child Development Scheme (ICDS), the project continues to modernise traditional anganwadis into vibrant centres of learning and community engagement.

In addition to this initiative, Vedanta Sesa Goa continues to support communities in Bicholim through several CSR programmes, including Aarogya for healthcare, Vriddhi for education and IT learning, Back to Farming for agricultural support, and Jeevika for womenโ€™s vocational training. Initiatives such as the Sesa Football Academy and Sesa Technical School further contribute to nurturing youth talent across Goa.
