The Board of Control for Cricket in India has announced a fresh set of guidelines for the upcoming Indian Premier League 2026 season, introducing notable changes aimed at maintaining discipline and standardising player conduct.
One of the key changes includes a complete ban on practice sessions on match days. This move is expected to ensure better pitch preservation and maintain fairness for all competing teams, while also helping organisers manage match-day logistics more efficiently.
In addition to operational changes, the BCCI has also implemented stricter dress code regulations. Players will no longer be allowed to wear floppies or sleeveless jerseys during official appearances and matches, reinforcing a more uniform and professional appearance across teams.
To ensure compliance, a penalty structure has been introduced. A first violation of the dress code rules will result in an official warning issued to the player or team. However, repeated violations will attract financial penalties, signalling the board’s intent to enforce discipline more strictly this season.
