Panaji’s entrepreneurial spirit received national recognition as Jaya Tulsiani and Poonam Tulsiani, the mother-daughter duo behind Bassera, were honoured at She The Change 2026, hosted by Swiggy in New Delhi.
The flagship initiative, themed “From Vision to Venture,” celebrates women who are reshaping India’s culinary and business landscape. The awards ceremony brought together pioneers, innovators, and changemakers from across the food and beverage industry, recognising excellence in categories such as Entrepreneur of the Year and Chef of the Year.
The event was graced by Chief Guest Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, alongside Sriharsha Majety, Co-Founder, MD and Group CEO of Swiggy, who felicitated 28 outstanding women entrepreneurs for their contributions to the industry.
Among the honourees, the Tulsiani duo stood out for their inspiring journey. Their venture, Bassera, began seven years ago as a modest dorm kitchen serving authentic homemade Sindhi cuisine. Over time, it has evolved into a thriving multi-brand enterprise in Goa, now operating seven food brands and offering a diverse menu that spans North Indian, Chinese, Mughlai, and other popular cuisines.
Reflecting on their journey, the duo shared how their association with Swiggy since 2018 played a crucial role in scaling their business from a small cloud kitchen to a city-wide operation. Today, Bassera not only delivers a wide variety of dishes but also contributes significantly to local employment, with a strong focus on empowering women through job opportunities.
The recognition at She The Change 2026 highlights Goa’s growing prominence as a hub for innovative, women-led businesses in the F&B sector. It also underscores Swiggy’s commitment to supporting women entrepreneurs across India. According to internal estimates, the platform currently hosts around 70,000 women-run restaurants, collectively generating nearly 4.2 lakh jobs.
As the Tulsiani duo continues to expand their footprint, their story stands as an inspiring example of how passion, perseverance, and the right platform can transform a small idea into a successful enterprise with meaningful social impact.
