In a remarkable display of determination and endurance, young siblings Vihaan Karmalkar (7) and Avni Karmalkar (10) successfully completed the Mandovi River crossing on March 15, 2026, bringing pride to their hometown of Carambolim.
With this achievement, Vihaan has become the youngest child from Carambolim village to accomplish the feat, while both siblings are now the only two children from the village to have successfully crossed the Mandovi River so far.
For Avni, this marks her second successful river crossing, highlighting her growing confidence and stamina in open water swimming. Her performance reflects strong perseverance and skill at a young age, setting an inspiring example for other children.
Both children are students of Shiksha Niketan School, and participated in the event following training at their school’s swimming camp. Their preparation and dedication played a crucial role in helping them achieve this milestone.
Their parents, professional fitness trainers and founders of Sunil’s Fitness Wave, expressed immense pride in their children’s accomplishment. They emphasised the importance of discipline, consistency, and a healthy lifestyle, values they have instilled in their children from an early age.
The siblings’ achievement not only showcases their individual determination but also highlights the growing culture of fitness and sports among young individuals in Goa.
