Goa Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Bombay Chartered Accountants’ Society Host Seminar on TDS & TCS, Draw 200+ Participants

The Goa Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GCCI), in association with the Bombay Chartered Accountants’ Society (BCAS), organised a full-day seminar titled “TDS & TCS – What Is, What Changes & How to Stay Compliance Ready?” at the Surendrababu Timblo Convention Hall in Panaji on March 13, 2026.

The seminar received an overwhelming response with more than 200 participants, including chartered accountants, tax professionals, industry representatives and officers from various government departments. Participants attended both physically at the venue and virtually through an online platform.

The programme began with opening remarks by Rohan Bhandare, Honorary Secretary of GCCI, who welcomed the participants and highlighted the chamber’s continued commitment to knowledge sharing on evolving regulatory and tax matters. He noted that with the introduction of the Income-tax Act 2025 and the accompanying draft rules, professionals and businesses must be prepared to “unlearn the old and relearn the new” in order to remain compliant in a rapidly evolving tax environment.

In her welcome address, Pratima Dhond, President of GCCI, emphasised that Tax Deduction at Source (TDS) and Tax Collection at Source (TCS) continue to remain among the most critical compliance areas under the income tax framework. She highlighted that frequent amendments, new reporting requirements and the increasing digitalisation of tax administration make it essential for businesses and professionals to stay continuously updated.

On behalf of BCAS, Deepak Shah delivered the opening remarks. The speakers for the seminar were introduced by Yatish Pai Vernekar, Co-Chair of the Taxation and Financial Services Committee of GCCI.

The seminar featured expert sessions by Ravikant Kamath and Ronak Rambhia, who presented detailed insights on recent changes in TDS and TCS provisions under the Income-tax Act 2025, including developments in the Finance Bill 2026 and the Draft Income-tax Rules 2026. The experts also discussed key compliance challenges arising from these changes and offered practical guidance for professionals and businesses.

A special curtain raiser session on developments in the TRACES Portal was delivered by an Income Tax Officer from CPC-TDS, providing participants with insights into upcoming changes in the compliance ecosystem.

The seminar also included practical case studies covering several important areas of TDS such as salary payments, commission and brokerage, rent and immovable property transactions, payments to contractors, professional and technical service fees, remuneration to partners, purchase of goods, e-commerce transactions, business perquisites and non-resident payments. These sessions helped participants understand real-world compliance issues and practical solutions.

The programme concluded with an interactive question-and-answer session, giving participants an opportunity to clarify their queries with the experts. The event reinforced GCCI’s continued efforts to strengthen awareness and compliance readiness among businesses and professionals in Goa through collaborative knowledge-sharing initiatives with leading professional bodies.

The event was coordinated and well organised by Sanjay Amonkar, Director General of GCCI, along with Kiran Ballikar, Director of GCCI.
