Goa, March 13, 2026: Vedanta Sesa Goa celebrated the 55th National Safety Week with a series of initiatives aimed at strengthening workplace safety and fostering a culture of shared responsibility.
This year’s theme, “Engage, Educate & Empower People to Enhance Safety,” highlights the importance of equipping individuals with knowledge and authority to prioritise safety while contributing to India’s vision of Viksit Bharat.
Large Participation Across Workforce
The week-long celebrations engaged nearly 2,000 employees, workmen, and business partners across the company’s operations.
The programme began with an inaugural ceremony at the Value Added Business (VAB) facility in Amona, attended by Anant Pangam, alongside Saptesh Sardesai and other senior company officials and union representatives including Rama Naik.
More than 500 employees participated in a safety rally and pledge, reaffirming their commitment to maintaining a secure workplace environment.
Extensive Safety Training and Activities
To strengthen safety awareness, the company organised over 40 specialised training sessions, contributing more than 800 man-hours of safety education.
These sessions were supported by safety demonstrations, emergency drills, and interactive quizzes, designed to embed a proactive safety culture across the organisation.
Leadership Reaffirms Safety Commitment
Speaking on the occasion, Navin Jaju emphasised the company’s commitment to workplace safety.
“We, at Vedanta Sesa Goa, are deeply committed to ensuring the highest standards of workplace safety. Integration of technology, AI, and Critical Risk Management are key pillars for fostering an even safer workplace environment,” he said.
Anant Pangam, Chief Inspector of Factories and Boilers, appreciated the company’s safety initiatives and highlighted the importance of building reliable safety systems through awareness and worker participation.
Focus on Technology and Digital Safety
Saptesh Sardesai, CEO – VAP, highlighted Vedanta’s focus on innovation and digital safety systems.
He stated that the company continues to enhance its safety ecosystem through technology, stronger audit mechanisms, rigorous drills, and Critical Risk Management practices, while exploring AI-enabled tools to reduce human–machine interaction and create safer workplaces.
