As part of the celebrations of Aboli Week 2026, JCI Vasco successfully organised a Saree Pre-Pleating Workshop under its Kaabil Project, aimed at empowering women with practical skills while promoting the elegance of traditional attire with modern convenience.
The workshop was conducted with great enthusiasm and participation, focusing on enabling women to learn a useful skill that could also potentially develop into a lifetime business opportunity.
Skill-Based Learning Session
A total of eight enthusiastic participants attended the workshop and actively took part in the learning session.
The workshop was conducted by Mrs. Diksha Sarang, who demonstrated the step-by-step process of saree pre-pleating, showing participants how to neatly arrange pleats to achieve a graceful and well-managed drape.
She also shared practical tips on pinning techniques, managing pleats, and ensuring a perfect saree drape, making it easier for women to wear sarees conveniently while maintaining a polished look.
Participants were encouraged to practice the pre-pleating technique themselves under her guidance, allowing them to gain hands-on experience during the session.
Encouraging Women Empowerment
The initiative aimed not only to promote traditional attire but also to equip women with practical skills that could be turned into a small entrepreneurial venture, such as providing saree pre-pleating services for weddings, cultural events, and celebrations.
The workshop concluded successfully with participants expressing appreciation for the opportunity to learn a practical and marketable skill.
The programme was organised under the leadership of:
- JC Anjali Loran, President
- JFD Clinton Fernandes, Secretary
- JC Suvarna Bandekar, Lady Jaycee Coordinator and Aboli Week Coordinator
JCI Vasco continues to organise community-driven initiatives aimed at women empowerment, skill development, and social engagement.
