Philanthropist Sushma Khandeparkar Donates Blood Bank Vehicle in Memory of Her Father


In a heartfelt gesture combining remembrance with community service, philanthropist Sushma Khandeparkar has donated a specialised blood bank vehicle to the Blood Bank of Goa Medical College through the Indian Red Cross Society Goa and the Rotary Club of Panaji.

The donation was made in the 100th birth centenary year of her late father, turning a personal tribute into a meaningful initiative that will benefit the wider community. The specialised Force Traveller blood bank vehicle, valued at approximately ₹22.30 lakh, is expected to significantly enhance blood donation services across the state.

The formal handover ceremony was held on March 10 in Porvorim, attended by several dignitaries and officials from the healthcare and social service sectors.

Among those present were Shri Gaurish Dhond, Chairman of the Indian Red Cross Society Goa, Rtn. Prashant Kaisare, President of the Rotary Club of Panaji, Shri Yatindra Maralkar, IAS, Secretary Health, Prof. Dr. J. P. Tiwari, Dean of Goa Medical College, and Dr. Rajesh Patil, Medical Superintendent of Goa Medical College, along with members of the Red Cross, Rotary and the Khandeparkar family.

Shri Yatindra Maralkar, IAS, Secretary Health, formally received the vehicle and expressed gratitude to Ms. Khandeparkar for her generous contribution. He also appreciated the collaborative efforts of the Indian Red Cross Society and Rotary Panaji in facilitating the initiative.

Chairman of the Red Cross Goa, Shri Gaurish Dhond, highlighted that the blood bank vehicle will be used by the Goa Medical College Blood Bank to organise blood donation drives and extend services to rural and underserved areas across the state.

Vice Chairperson of the Red Cross Shri Manguirish Pai Raikar and Rtn. Prashant Kaisare from the Rotary Club of Panaji emphasised the importance of community service and the impact of philanthropic initiatives in strengthening healthcare infrastructure.

For Ms. Khandeparkar, the donation represents more than just a contribution to healthcare. It stands as a lasting tribute to her father’s legacy of compassion and service, transforming remembrance into action that supports public health and community well-being.
