International Space Station Captures Stunning Night View of India from Space

A breathtaking view of India illuminated under the night sky has been captured by astronauts aboard the International Space Station (ISS), offering a rare perspective of the subcontinent from orbit.

The space station shared the stunning image with the caption:
โ€œThe well-lit nighttime cityscape of India pictured from the International Space Station as it soared over the Arabian Sea and across the Himalayas.โ€

The photograph showcases India glowing with thousands of city lights, highlighting major urban regions as the ISS passed over the Arabian Sea and moved across the towering peaks of the Himalayas.

Images captured from the ISS provide a unique view of Earth, revealing how human settlements illuminate the planet after dark. From space, densely populated regions appear as bright clusters of lights, while mountainous terrains and oceans remain darker, creating a dramatic contrast.

Orbiting the Earth at an altitude of roughly 400 kilometres, the International Space Station travels at a speed of about 28,000 kilometres per hour, allowing astronauts to witness multiple sunrises and sunsets each day.

Photographs like these not only captivate audiences worldwide but also highlight the beauty and scale of our planet as seen from space. Over the years, astronauts and space agencies have shared numerous images showing continents, cities, rivers and mountain ranges in extraordinary detail.

The latest image of India from orbit has once again sparked fascination among space enthusiasts, reminding viewers how vibrant and interconnected the planet appears when viewed from the vantage point of space.
