Andhra Pradesh Explores ‘Disney World City’ in Anantapur to Boost Tourism

The Government of Andhra Pradesh is exploring the possibility of bringing a major global entertainment attraction to the state. Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has directed the Tourism Department to initiate discussions with The Walt Disney Company regarding the establishment of a “Disney World City” in Anantapur district.

The proposed project aims to position Anantapur as a major international tourism and entertainment hub, potentially transforming the region’s economic landscape. Officials have been asked to formally reach out to Disney representatives to explore the feasibility of developing a large-scale theme park and entertainment city similar to global Disney destinations.

If the plan materialises, the proposed “Disney World City” could include a world-class theme park, hospitality infrastructure, entertainment districts, and tourism facilities designed to attract visitors from across India and abroad.

Government officials believe the project could significantly boost tourism, generate employment, and drive infrastructure development in the Rayalaseema region, particularly in and around Anantapur.

The state government has been actively working to attract global investments in tourism and entertainment sectors, positioning Andhra Pradesh as a competitive destination for large-scale international projects.

While discussions are still in the exploratory stage, the proposal reflects the state’s ambition to create a landmark attraction that could rival some of the world’s most popular theme park destinations.
