Ahmedabad, March 8: With excitement building for the highly anticipated ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Final scheduled on March 8 at Narendra Modi Stadium, reports of large-scale black marketing of match tickets have surfaced in the city.
Tickets originally priced at around ₹2,000 are reportedly being sold for up to ₹15,000 through social media platforms and private agents. Meanwhile, tickets for the President Gallery are allegedly being offered for as high as ₹1.5 lakh.
According to sources, several agents claim that prices may rise even further as the match time approaches due to the increasing demand for tickets.
With official tickets already sold out, many agents have become active in the resale market, offering tickets at prices ranging from six to ten times the original value.
Most of these transactions are reportedly being coordinated through mobile messaging platforms such as WhatsApp and Instagram, where agents share photos of tickets and negotiate prices with potential buyers.
In many cases, buyers are asked to pay a token or advance amount before the ticket is handed over through an in-person meeting.
Some agents have also alleged that certain box office staff could be involved in the process, claiming that tickets are sometimes secured before the public sale and later passed on to agents for resale at significantly higher prices.
Due to the limited availability of tickets, several cricket fans are reportedly paying the inflated prices in order to secure seats for the much-awaited final between India national cricket team and New Zealand national cricket team.
