The State Judo Championships 2025–26 concluded on a grand and successful note, showcasing exceptional talent and competitive spirit across Junior and Senior Men and Women categories. Organised by the Goa Judo Association, the championship brought together leading clubs and training centres from across the state, underlining the steady growth of judo in Goa.
In the Junior Men category, Pawn Patel of RCC Ponda clinched gold in the Below 55 kg division, while Sido Murmu from RCC Panaji secured top honours in Below 60 kg. Rishu Yadav of SAI STC Ponda dominated the Below 66 kg category, and Pruthviraj Herekar of Shri Bhumika Judo Sangh emerged victorious in Below 81 kg. Samarth Churmuri of RCC Ponda won gold in the +100 kg division. Shri Bhumika Judo Sangh was declared Overall Champion in Junior Men, with RCC Ponda finishing runners-up.
The Junior Women division witnessed equally impressive performances. Sherin Varghese of Shri Bhumika Judo Sangh secured gold in Below 44 kg, while Trisha Kawat of SAI STC Peddem won the Below 48 kg category. Vidhya Jamadar of RCC Panaji topped Below 52 kg. Aryan Kadam of Warrior Academy claimed gold in Below 57 kg, and Suhana Parwar of Jaya Dojo won in Below 63 kg. Maybiti Murmu of RCC Panaji and Kashish Kharude of Shri Bhumika Judo Sangh secured gold in the +70 kg and +78 kg categories respectively. Shri Bhumika Judo Sangh emerged Overall Champions in Junior Women, with RCC Panaji as runners-up.
In the Senior Men category, Jagdish Yadahalli of RCC Panaji won gold in Below 55 kg. Nippu Yadav and Rishu Yadav of SAI STC Ponda secured first place in Below 60 kg and Below 66 kg respectively. Mohit Kumar of SAI STC Ponda topped Below 73 kg, while Harshit Sadhya of SAI STC Ponda won gold in Below 90 kg. Rishav Singh of RCC Ponda claimed victory in the +100 kg category. SAI STC Ponda was crowned Overall Champion in Senior Men, with RCC Ponda finishing runners-up.
Among Senior Women, Tanishka Shivolkar and Chandani Jha of RCC Mapusa secured gold in Below 48 kg and Below 52 kg respectively. Rashmi Jadhav and Vedika Varandekar of Shri Bhumika Judo Sangh won the Below 57 kg and Below 63 kg categories. Isha Fernandes, Priti Kalmankar and Iram Khatri of RCC Panaji clinched gold in Below 70 kg, Below 78 kg and +78 kg respectively. RCC Panaji emerged as Overall Champions in Senior Women, with Shri Bhumika Judo Sangh finishing runners-up.
Speaking on the occasion, Kripesh Vengurlekar, General Secretary of the Goa Judo Association, said the championship was a tremendous success and reflected the improving standards of judo in the state. He praised the athletes for their discipline, technique and sportsmanship, and appreciated the contribution of coaches, officials and supporting institutions. He added that the event has strengthened confidence as Goa prepares its judokas for higher-level competitions.
The championship once again demonstrated Goa’s growing prominence in the sport and the dedication of its young and senior athletes alike.
