JEE Main 2026: Photo Verification Certificate Mandatory for Certain Candidates

Written by Tanisha Cardozo || Team Allycaral

The National Testing Agency has issued an important directive for candidates appearing for JEE Main 2026, mandating the submission of an additional document for identity verification. Applicants who used identity documents such as a PAN Card, Indian Passport or Non-Indian Passport while filling the JEE Main 2026 application form are required to upload a Photo Verification Certificate by January 7, 2026.

Candidates must first download the Photo Verification Certificate by logging into the official JEE Main website at jeemain.nta.nic.in using their application number and password. After downloading the form, all required details must be filled in, following which a recent passport-size photograph should be affixed. The certificate must then be signed by the School or College Principal or Headmaster.

The National Testing Agency has specified that the signature of the Principal or Headmaster should be placed in such a way that it appears partly on the certificate and partly on the photograph, ensuring authenticity. Once completed, the certificate must be scanned and uploaded in PDF format through the link available in the candidate login portal.

In addition to the online submission, candidates are required to carry the original Photo Verification Certificate to their examination centre on the day of the exam for physical identity verification. Failure to comply with these instructions may lead to complications during the examination process.

JEE Main 2026 will be conducted in Computer Based Test mode across two sessions. The first session is scheduled to be held from January 21 to January 30, 2026, with results expected to be declared by February 12, 2026. The second session will take place from April 1 to April 10, 2026, and the results are scheduled to be announced by April 20, 2026. Candidates are advised to complete the document submission process well before the deadline to avoid last-minute issues.
