MCC Tigers sealed their spot in the final of the MCL 11 T20 cricket tournament with a determined 10-run victory over MCC Thunder in Qualifier 1 at Margao. With the win, the Tigers advanced directly to the final, while MCC Thunder will get another opportunity to qualify when they face the winner of the Eliminator between MCC Knights and MCC Masters on December 26.
Batting first, MCC Tigers posted a competitive total of 190 for 7 in their 20 overs, built on consistent contributions across the batting order. Chaitanya Kamat and Vaibhav Naik led the charge with identical scores of 34, while Nikit Naik Dalal added a brisk 33 and Viraj Tar chipped in with 32 to ensure momentum throughout the innings. For MCC Thunder, Iftikhar Agha stood out with figures of 2 for 30, while the remaining bowlers shared the wickets.
In response, MCC Thunder mounted a spirited chase and remained in contention till the final overs. Om Fadte top-scored with 38, supported by Roshan Naik’s 36 and Sahil Adwalpalkar’s 35. However, disciplined bowling by the Tigers in the closing stages restricted Thunder to 180 for 9, handing the Tigers a narrow but well-earned win. Mrunmay Das led the bowling effort with figures of 2 for 29, with Ketan Kunde, Nikit Naik Dalal and Viraj Tar providing effective support.
For his impactful all-round performance, contributing with both bat and ball, Nikit Naik Dalal was adjudged Man of the Match as MCC Tigers celebrated their entry into the tournament final.
