The MCL 11 T-20 cricket tournament unfolded an exciting day of competitive action at the MCC Ground in Margao, where two contrasting yet equally engaging matches entertained local cricket fans. In the first clash, MCC Royals showcased a commanding performance by posting an impressive total of 178 for 7 in their 20 overs. Key contributions came from Samrudh Bharne with 33, Vijay with 31, Raghuvir Gharse adding a rapid 38, and Venkat Biche chipping in with 27. The Warriors’ bowling effort was led by Kapil Angle, who picked up 3 for 24, supported by Raghuvir Kuncolienkar and Vasudev Kundaiker with a wicket each.
Chasing the target, MCC Warriors struggled to build partnerships and were eventually bowled out for 132 in 19.5 overs. Vikas Shetty top scored with 24, while Vasudev Kundaiker managed 14. The Royals’ bowling attack proved too strong, with Chirag Naik stealing the spotlight through a match-winning spell of 3 for 22, earning him the Man of the Match award.
The second match of the day turned into an enthralling contest as MCC Masters posted a competitive total of 180 for 7. Dr. Sunny Kamat led the scoring with a solid 40, followed by 29 from Sudhir Kenkre and an unbeaten 30 from Angad Painginkar. The Knights’ bowlers kept things in check with Siddharth Ghanekar taking 2 for 24 and Shaunit Sawardekar claiming 2 for 21.
MCC Knights responded with determination during the chase, reaching the target with just two wickets and three balls to spare, closing at 184 for 8 in 19.3 overs. Their innings was anchored by crucial knocks from Ameet Kakode with 29, Siddharth Ghanekar contributing 37, and an excellent unbeaten 38 from Suraj Hirani, whose composed performance under pressure earned him the Man of the Match honour. The thrilling finish ensured the Knights walked away with a memorable victory in a match that kept spectators on edge till the very end.
