Bicholim, Goa: Reinforcing its commitment to health, safety and employee wellbeing, Vedanta Sesa Goa – Iron Ore Goa (IOG) observed World Diabetes Day with a series of preventive healthcare interventions at its Bicholim site. The health-focused initiative was held under the aegis of the National Health Mission and the Directorate of Health Services, Goa, in collaboration with the Community Health Centre (CHC) Bicholim.
The program featured a Diabetes Screening Camp and Awareness Session for employees and business partners. Participants received valuable guidance on lifestyle management, preventive measures and early warning signs of diabetes. Additional tests, including Hemoglobin, malaria and blood pressure screening, were also conducted to promote proactive health management.

Going beyond diabetes screening, Vedanta IOG also organized a Breast Cancer Awareness and Screening Camp for women employees and business partners, emphasizing the importance of early detection and training on self-examination techniques. The session was conducted by
– Dr. Sneha Haldankar, Medical Officer, CHC Bicholim
– Mrs. Sulochana Chandroji, Health Educator – Cancer Awareness
Dr. Siddhi Kansar highlighted the importance of preventive care, stating that collaborations like these extend vital healthcare services to workplaces and strengthen community wellbeing.
Dr. Sneha Haldankar emphasized that early detection remains the strongest tool against breast cancer and expressed appreciation for the partnership with Vedanta Sesa Goa in reaching more women with life-saving information.
Speaking on the initiative, Mr. Dhirajkumar Jagdish, Deputy CEO – IOG, said:

The initiatives reflect Vedanta IOG’s firm commitment to integrating health and safety excellence into its operations. Recently, the Bicholim site was also certified as a ‘TB Free’ mining site, further underlining its progress in building a healthier workforce and community.
