Stranger Things Season 5 Finale Rumoured for Dual Release: Netflix and Theatres to Stream the End Together

The final chapter of Stranger Things could be making history in more ways than one. As anticipation builds for the last season of Netflix’s beloved sci-fi hit, reports have surfaced that the two-hour finale, titled “The Rightside Up,” will premiere both on Netflix and in theatres across the globe on December 31, 2025.

According to Variety, more than 350 cinemas are expected to screen the finale beginning at 5 PM PT/8 PM ET, running through January 1, 2026. Though Netflix has yet to officially confirm, the idea of a theatrical farewell has thrilled fans, with social media buzzing over the possibility of witnessing the Hawkins crew on the big screen one last time.

Earlier, the Duffer Brothers revealed that the season opener, “The Crawl,” will run for 1 hour and 8 minutes, followed by “The Vanishing of _____” (54 minutes), “The Turnbow Trap” (1 hour and 6 minutes), and the mid-season highlight “Sorcerer,” at 1 hour and 23 minutes. The creators assured fans these runtimes are official after weeks of speculation.

Season 5 will arrive in three parts: the first four episodes drop on November 26, the next three on Christmas Day, and the two-hour finale on New Year’s Eve. Viewers in India can tune in at 5:30 AM IST for the premiere episodes.

Featuring Winona Ryder, David Harbour, Millie Bobby Brown, Finn Wolfhard, Sadie Sink, Gaten Matarazzo, and more, Stranger Things Season 5 marks the end of an era for Netflix and for fans who grew up alongside Hawkins’ heroes.

If the reports hold true, this dual release could redefine how streaming finales are celebrated — blending nostalgia, innovation, and one final showdown in both living rooms and theatres worldwide.
