Tribute Music Festival in Panaji Honours Pt. Prabhakar Chari & Pt. Yograj Naik


Panaji, 17th September 2025:

Pt. Prabhakar Chari Pratisthan in collaboration with Swar Sanskruti Music Academy announced a two-day memorial music festival in Panaji to pay homage to the late Pt. Prabhakar Chari, a stalwart of Hindustani classical music in Goa, and eminent sitarist Pt. Yograj Naik.

The festival will take place on 20th and 21st September 2025 at Institute Menezes Braganza Hall, starting at 4:00 pm on both days. Renowned musicians and dancers from across India will participate, showcasing the depth and richness of classical music traditions.

Day 1 Highlights:

  • Dance performance by Manjushri Mate
  • Sitar trio by Laxmikant Khandekar, Sadanand Amonkar, Raghuvir Fadate
  • Vocal recital by Prachala Amonkar
  • Sitar recital by Pt. Ravi Chary accompanied by Mandar Katti, Sarang Vechalekar, Vishal Bhurke, Kavita Lotliker, Khushi Chaugule

Day 2 Highlights:

  • Laybandh, percussion ensemble from Goa College of Music
  • Vocal recital by Pallavi Patil
  • Solo harmonium recital by Dr. Manisha Kulkarni
  • Taal Vandana segment featuring Pt. Tulshidas Navelkar, Pt. Ulhas Velingkar, Shrikumar Sarjyotishi and others
  • Pakhawaj Shiv Tandav performance by Krushna Salunke & team

The festival also features eminent accompanists including Pt. Shubh Maharaj, Dattaraj Mhalshi, Shripad Chari, Gautami Amonkar, Wasim Khan, Srujan Bhatkurse, adding depth and grandeur to each performance.

Speaking at the announcement, Pt. Ravi Chary, son and disciple of Pt. Prabhakar Chari, said:
