The New York Yankees turned up the power in Houston on Tuesday night, defeating the Astros 7-1 behind a standout offensive performance led by Trent Grisham and Jazz Chisholm Jr.
With the Yankees holding a 2-0 lead in the fifth inning, Houston pitcher Framber Valdez walked Paul Goldschmidt with one out, followed by consecutive singles from Cody Bellinger and Aaron Judge to load the bases. After Giancarlo Stanton struck out, Trent Grisham stepped up and launched a grand slam into the left-field seats — his second in just five days — giving New York a commanding 6-0 lead.
Jazz Chisholm Jr. added to the fireworks, blasting two solo home runs to round out the scoring. The Yankees’ offense clicked on all fronts, making this their eighth grand slam of the season, and showing no signs of slowing down as they chase the AL East title.
Despite the win, the Yankees remained 2.5 games behind the first-place Toronto Blue Jays, who secured a 12-9 victory over the Cincinnati Reds on the same night. The victory reinforces New York’s strong push in the playoff race as the season heads into its crucial stretch.
